Help!!!!!!!

what part of NC are you moving to? What kind of advice are you looking for?? I'm in the Greensboro, Winston-Salem area...When are you moving?

I'm in Charlotte, pm me this is the area you're interested in.

My girlfriend, who is an RN, and I (I'm currently taking my prerequisites) live in the Triangle area (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill). Where in NC are you moving?

I am moving in the spring,

Where should I look for work?

What's the pay like?

Is there sales tax?

Is there state tax?

What is the RN pay there?

Is there a huge shortage?

Does NC require CEU's if so how many?

and just advice on what you think I should know

Thanks JC008347

Dear JC

I too having been attempting a move to NC. I have looked into the Winston area, Greensboro too. There seems to be jobs, not as many as I expected. I have been quoted about $24.00 an hour, I have experience. I do not know if they require CEU's, I have to get them for my original state, so I always do more and I never have any trouble with my NC license when I renew it. There is a state income tax, there is a sales tax, I don't really know how much. Food like bread, milk, soda, meat, and canned veggies are expensive. Rent is out of this world. Gas is expensive compared to Virginia. I know I sound negative, but I am moving to help a daughter going through a divorce, so maybe that is why. The weather is nice but ice storms are dangerous. Heating is expensive.

C'mon down! There are nursing jobs all over the place around here. No CEUs required, yet, just encouraged. The pay is a tad behind the national average, but the cost of living is lower so it balances out. We have both the mountains and the beach within easy driving distance of anywhere in the state. Lots of history and interesting things to do. We're 5 hours from DC and 6 hours from Atlanta. This state is a well kept secret.

Specializes in many.

I, too, am interested in moving to NC in the next 4 years or so. Probably in the Greenville area, since I want to go to grad school at ECU. How are jobs looking in that area?

They are so despirate for Nurses that hospitals are advertising in Fayetteville which is 2 hours away. Hospitals that have been RN only for years are now hiring LPNs to help fill the void. Even at that, they don't have anywhere near enough Nurses in this state.

We have lived in Raleigh for the past 4 yrs (originally from PA) and WE LOVE IT in NC. There is so much to do. We are 2 1/2 from the beach or the mountains. I came down as a traveler with CCTC and worked at UNC in Chapel Hill for 3 years as a traveler...great pay. I have since taken a job at a hospital closer to home that is owned by UNC. I got tired of driving in the traffic/construction. Asheville is a beautiful area in the mountains, Wilmington is a cool beach town. Good luck.
