moving to noblesville area

Published

We are considering moving from south bend to the noblesville area. I was wondering if anyone could give me any info about the area hospitals? Which ones are nice? which ones should I stay away from? what are the starting pays in the area? I don't graduate til May so I will be a brand new nurse. I'm interested in the OB area and currently work in that area as a tech to gain a little experience.

We have been looking at homes in the area there and they look like good deals compared to the homes on the market here. Any help would be very appreciated.

Well if you want to stay close Riverview Hospital is located in Noblesville and they do have an OB unit. Or you could travel a bit further to Community North, but the traffic in the morning can be a headache from Noblesville. They have a pretty big OB unit there and it's great. The pay is going to be lower than what you may make at Clarian or St. vincent, but you're giving up the travel time to stay closer to the Noblesville area.

thanks :) its things like traffic that I'm not sure about. Do you know what the different start rates are for those hospitals? Is if very hard for new grads to get into the ob departments there?

J

I don't know the rates, but I know of 4 new grads that started in OB at Community North.

Thanks you give me hope!! :) My husband will hopefully be transferring jobs there or find something he likes more. :)

Do you know anything about the local school systems?

My daughter starts Kindergarden next year.

The school system is great. I live in Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern is one of the best. Noblesville schools are also top notch. You won't go wrong moving here to Hamilton County!

we are actually now considering the fishers area. Its a little closer to more of the indy hospitals. I think it would be less of a drive. Its hard to gauge from the map. About how long does it take to get from fishers to noblesville? they look pretty close on the map.

School systems are another reason for moving. The schools here are not really that great. At least the public ones. I'm going to a private college myself.

The hospitals around here start new grads at $20 an hour. I'm hoping it is comparable there. The houses look a lot cheaper in that area. I'm nervous about moving and starting a new life somewhere...but I tend to make friends easily...so i hope it will be ok.

Depends on where you live in Fishers to gauge the time to Noblesville..time can range from 5-15 min. New grads make more than that....I did find out from one of the new grads I know that she makes $24/hr. You can get a great buy on houses, but be careful since there is a lot of short sale and foreclosures. And watch what builder you buy from...you can get a large house for really cheap, but the builder may not be that great. Choose your neighborhood wisely. You'll absolutely love it. There's a reason why the school system in one of the best and why Fishers was named the tops suburb for its population to raise a family. This was from Money magazine!

Hi Jennifer,

My family and I are moving to the area also. We are purchasing a house in Carmel- the schools are ranked right along with Fishers. We looked at a lot of homes in Fishers, so if you want any info I can help about sub's and location in Fishers. I don't know much about Noblesville other than it's right by Carmel. I have noticed the downtown Carmel area is really cute and growing still. I have a daughter that is going to be in kindergarden next year too! If you want to chat, let me know! Lora

Specializes in a little of everthing.

Would you consider Lapel? It is on the other side of Noblesville. The school in Lapel is rated 4 stars and is great. I have a daughter in 1 grade there and another daughter in 11th grade. It is a quick easy drive to 2 hospitals in Anderson and 1 hospital in Noblesville. The tax rate in Madison county is much lower than Hamilton county. We were going to move to to Noblesville, but the property taxes were about 4 times higher there. Noblesville, Fishers, Carmel, and Zionsville are all good safe places to live. They are also the expensive areas around here.

Little late, but Ill chime in...Noblesville, Fishers, Carmel are 3 different worlds!!! They are all very close in proximity, but lifestyle varies immeasurably!! I live in Westfield, which is different all by itself but is between carmel and noblesville. Noblesville is an old town, a little rundown in most areas, but has its spots of wealthy neighborhoods. Carmel is all out yuppy-ville and it's schools are top-notch, but very clique-ish. Fishers is uppity too, but I don't know alot about it. There are highs and lows in all 3 of the places you are looking, and they are generally extremes. I don't know that I would be the greatest person to ask, but Carmel scares me if the kid isn't outgoing and in the upper "class" of kids. Noblesville would scare me with the "bad kids", but their sports are free (I've heard) where things like football will put you back $200-300 everywhere else. Again, don't know much about Fishers. If I were you, I would just try to get some honest feedback depending on what you are looking for, because the drives are not much different, Carmel has more hospitals, Noblesville has Riverview, and Fishers...tho it is "closer" to everything else the drive is horrendous!!! Good luck....didn't mean to sound negative...Im just considering the moving thing too, and all the feedback I get is "its great, you'll love it here" and I can't believe that there is nothing wrong with it...I just want a heads up of what it is!! lol :p

Just a quick note to say for you to seriously consider all manner of research before going to Riverview hospital - I heard it's not so hot on patient care - St. Vincent's on the other hand is fantastic in every regard. Good luck!
