Moving, need help please

Can anyone give me any details on Queen Creek? I'm looking for elementary school info, housing info, commute to Mesa area, crime rate, or anything at all. I'm desperate for info. Thanks so much!

I am hoping if we do decide to continue with the QC route that since I'll be working 7p-7a that most of the commuter traffic will be going the opposite direction I'll be heading. kwim.

I read in the paper a few months back that the commute between QC and PHoenix is horrible. Lots of people have bought out there and regretted it because there is only one main highway back and forth and it gets plugged up real easily. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

If you are working nights though, I bet the commute won't be as bad. At 7 in the morning there is probably way more traffic than at night. But like you said, your going the opposite way.

I'm looking at Banner Baywood in Mesa/Chandler Regional/Mercy Gilbert. I just read an article yesterday that they are widening and adding additional lanes, but it will take like 3 years to completely. They are also hiring a sheriff and some deputies.

I don't know. I'm used to living in more rural areas. My current commute to work is 45 min each way. The closest mall is 45 min. away. etc. I just don't want to sit in unpredicatable traffic for an hour and a half to go 25 miles.

I am hoping if we do decide to continue with the QC route that since I'll be working 7p-7a that most of the commuter traffic will be going the opposite direction I'll be heading. kwim.

Thanks for all the insight, and more pros/cons would be great. :)

I don't think the extra lanes/highways are going to make a speck of difference, because they just keep building more houses, so there are always going to be more people using the roads. The new 202 extension is a perfect example. Already totally congested.

It seems the traffic is really bad. Is it like the traffic in Los Angeles? I deal with traffic on a daily basis since I live in LA.

Does anybody know about the city of Maricopa? Is it a nice place to live? I 'm considering working at St Joseph or Good Samatarin nite shift. Is it really far from those 2 hospitals?

Nurse Bear:

I know a little about Maricopa.....it use to be primarily Indian Reservation land with a couple of small restaurants around there for the farmers. Very much a one road town. My father had a farm equipment dealership on the reservation for years, so it is VERY rural. Having said that, there has been tons of development out there for the last 18 months or so. Lots of relatively inexpensive houses, at least compared to the greater Phoenix area. Harrah's has a casino and that was the first really commerical development out there years ago. There was lots of agriculture, but I suspect that has given way to all the homes. The commute would be extremely long, even to Chandler regional. The highways just were not built to sustain the amount of growth that has taken place in the more rural parts of AZ, like Casa Grande, Maricopa, Queen Creek, etc. If you like really rural, this would be the place, but I believe your commute would be the pits!
