Moving to Juneau - info?

We will hopefully be moving to Juneau by fall, and I've read all the posts here from the past.

Anyone have additional info about the area, the hospital, etc to offer? I'm hoping to get in to the ER there.

No advice but I would like to tell you I am extremely envious of you!!! Good luck in Alaska!

I grew up in Juneau. My mother worked (retired) at Bartlett. There is so much to tell. The first thing I would do would be to start reading the Juneau paper. Juneauempire.com

Juneau is going through some tough times right now having a very unique energy crisis of its own.

Gosh, Like I said there is so much to tell. If you have some specific questions. Feel free to post them and I will do my best to answer them for you.

Thanks akspudus! I think I've read all your posts from the past, too, which have been helpful.

we've already been reading the Empire on-line as well as anything we can get our hands on about the area.

We were going to wait until January - but it looks like the real estate market is good here for selling our house, so we're getting ready to list it in a few weeks. Exciting but scary!!

I finally did get a hold of Bartlett, and I'm starting talks with them now, pending the house selling.

It sounds like a wonderful town and a neat community - once we show our moxie and stay through a winter :)

I was stationed in Adak back in my early 20's, so I think I'll be okay. Hubby loves the winter, too.

I guess I don't have any specific questions right now - I was probably just looking more for encouragement as I clean and pack. If I think of anything specific, I'll post it.
