I'm moving from Florida to the Greensboro area in October. I have two years experience in a home health office and about a year on a PCU floor. I don't like floor nursing and home health is very complicated and stressful. Any suggestions? I have a BSN and I'd like to try something completely different. The only problem is that everyone wants experience in whatever specialty I'm applying for.
Sounds like you are headed the right direction. If you can get in there as a CNA I'm sure that will give you a huge leg up. I'm new out here, so don't know what all is available like this, but if you can get an externship or even an internship they love that experience. I had an externship in Phoenix while in school and not only was it viewed favorably, it really helped to build my confidence and skills.
If/when the time comes for an interview, go in confident but not cocky and just have a respectful conversation with you. They want to know you are an actual person and not just someone there for a job. Trust me that so many people there are fantastic and you will have many good people in recruiting and management for interviews that you should and will have nothing to fear. They make the whole process very comforting. Good luck to you!
