Moving to Greensboro area

Published

I'm moving from Florida to the Greensboro area in October. I have two years experience in a home health office and about a year on a PCU floor. I don't like floor nursing and home health is very complicated and stressful. Any suggestions? I have a BSN and I'd like to try something completely different. The only problem is that everyone wants experience in whatever specialty I'm applying for.

I'm pretty sure that Moses Cone has some management/administration positions available that require an MSN. Check out their website. A little tip...if you select the job search for current employees, it shows you base salaries.

Thanks! I have a BSN, not sure if I'm going back for my masters yet. I have a applied for several jobs with Moses Cone but haven't had a call back. Some I'm extremely qualified for. Maybe it's because I'm moving in October and applied too soon.

Maybe. I think that they may have a link somewhere to the email address of a nursing recruiter. That may have been High Point Regional, though. HPRS is another good option. So is Wake Forest Baptist in WS if it's not too far to drive.

Thanks! I've actually been in touch with a recruiter at Moses Cone and I think I'm going to email her again to remind her that I'm still out here waiting to hear back. Have you worked at any of these hospitals?

No, I'm just now finishing up my supporting courses. I'm hoping to start working there as a CNA next spring. I have heard such great things about the overall employee satisfaction there. i'm definitely going to try to get into the Nursing Externship during summer, '13. I hope you can get on over there.

Good luck!

Which hospital are you talking about that has high employee satisfaction? Moses Cone? I actually asked about it in this forum a few months ago and one nurse replied saying she worked in ICU and couldn't say enough good things about the administration, the employees, everything. It's time for me to work somewhere nice again! Thanks for the well wishes and good luck to you too. Are you taking your pre reqs for nursing? CNA is great experience for working in a hospital. It's not easy and can be gross but great experience! I wish I would have taken a few per diem shifts before I became an RN just to get accustomed to hospital work and direct patient care.

Yeah, I'm talking about Moses Cone. I haven't heard one bad thing about them. Their benefits are great, too. I really hope to get on there very soon. I am currently out of commission due to a hip injury. I have to have a major surgery at Duke in a couple of months, and I likely won't be able to do anything for the rest of the year, but after that I am going to try to get in as a CNA.

At least that way I will have my foot in the door so that when I graduate, I will have a better chance.

I went to a job fair at Moses Cone in May and the head recruiter ended up driving me to the administration building so I could fill out an application because I was having trouble with the website at home. Then she took me to her parents apartment to take a look at it because it was Sunday and the leasing office was closed. She spent her Sunday afternoon chauffering me around. I couldn't believe how nice she was and I said right then that I needed to work for that organization.

Good luck with your surgery. CNA is pretty physical work with turning the pt's and helping them to the bathroom and stuff. Maybe we'll work together in the future!

That would be great! Keep me posted if you get hired.

BTW...That is AWESOME that the recruiter did all of that for you! It is really rare to find someone that will go out of their way to help you like that.

Specializes in Trauma and Cardiovascular ICU.

I just got hired on as a new grad in the Moses Cone Health System from out of state. I had a couple connections but I have heard nothing but great things about working for them, from many different people. Also my entire recruiting, interviewing, and hiring process has been amazing. I'm very excited to get started soon!
