I will be graduating in August, and being that my husband is from Australia we were thinking of moving down. Can any of you tell me what licensed practical nurses are called down there, I have been looking for jobs on the internet and cant seem to find any because I think I have to name wrong. Thanks

In everywhere BUT Victoria they are called Enrolled Nurses - Victoria LPN's are Registered Nurses division 2 - I think I keep getting Div 1 and 2 mixed. Anyway Welcome!!! I have put some good links at the top of this forum. There are specific goverment employment websites in the different states so let us know what part of Aust you will be heading to.

Hope things work out for you here in Aus.
Don't get upset if people confuse you for an american as we (as a general rule) can't tell the difference in accents (well at least no one I know can). Where abouts are you planning on going? In my humble opinion Queensland (especially South East Queensland) is by far the best state (I am not biased .... ok I am).

Yes, in Victoria LPN's (enrolled nurses) are called Registered Nurse Div 2's. Div 1's are Registered Nurses with a degree (or the full hospital training from the past). Confusing, huh?
Everywhere else in Australia a Registered Nurse is a Regstered Nurse as in the States and Canada, and LPN's are called Enrolled Nurses.
Good luck with the job hunt :)
Thank you all, it will make looking for a job a lot easier

Some Canadians say "abOOt" instead of "abOUt". This is a dead giveaway. Just conenctrate on the vowel sounds instead of the bowel sounds!
One thing I would like to know is why it isn't known as Canadia if its citizens are Canadians!
Pax to all! I'm only stirring the pot!
Koalablue - Can I have your dog? I love boxers. My boxer is yet to be born as I fully intend to be a responsible "carer" and wait until I have a stable job and house. I have been wanting a boxer for the last 15 years with many many close calls.
So can I?
What if I beg?
