Hey guys! I was just wondering if anyone here is applying for the ADN program at MSMC for Spring 2010...
ANd if anyone has gone to any information sessions..
Let me know! I'm looking into MSMC and I really wanna get in!
Specifically which accreditation did you ask about since WASC DOES list MSMC as a accredited college. Now MSMC is no longer accredited by NLN. Many community colleges are also no longer NLN certified. It seems to be the new trend. Maybe NLN is no longer relevant.
If your already at a CSU I would advise staying at the CSU. I'm choosing MSMC because I need the reassurance of a guaranteed spot in the LVN-RN bridge while I do my prereqs there so it meets my unique needs. The tuition is a lot of money to spend when you don't already know your going to love it.
the link u gave me is for the Chalon one which is BSN. and doheny is for ADN.
The main offices are at Chalon which is why the address is there. The two are not considered separate colleges. Note the accreditation mentions all levels of the degrees
DEGREE LEVELS:A (8), B (30), M (6), P (1)
All the associates and the DPT and MSN programs are at Dohney the rest is at Chalon but they are considered one college
I already know I'm going to love nursing if that's what you're asking. I would also stay at CSU if i had a choice but we all know it's very hard to get in..that is why im opting for a private school. I just asked if they are accredited besides by the BRN..and i asked about my school's nursing advisor and she said MSMC's ADN is not accredited. but even with all this, I'm still going to MSMC..I just was worried I'll have a hard time when I wanna go for my BSN after. but u said they have an adn-bsn program so that's good to know
Yeah they have where once you have passed your boards your can take the senior year for the BSN. The whole accreditation thing is confusing since there are so many of them. I know some CSU's will only let you RN-BSN if you graduated from a NLN college so that maybe what they are talking about.
Again there are lots of community college programs that are only accredited by the BRN. Generally not a problem to move onto BSN later.
In general the people I talk to in the places I want to work have a favorable opinion of MSMC. Did you apply for Fall?
Yep i applied for fall. I really hope I get in because my parents want me to go there and so I could move back home so we do not have to pay for my dorm and stuff. I'm just worried that because some of my prereqs are still in progress, that they will put me in the pre-nursing route. thats what i heard happened to someone on here. :/ If that happens, I do not know what I'll do..might try to go to west coast university because I know people going there.
DO NOT GO TO WEST COAST
Seriously I graduated from their sister college American Career College
You will be nothing but a walking money bag to them. You wont get value for your money and hospitals will laugh at you once your done. Much much much worse than MSMC
If you get put in the prenursing portion just take one semester with the religon class you need and maybe something you'll need for you BSN and you'll move onto the RN portion the next semester
how about American University of Health Sciences? I just really need to be an RN. I would go for LVN but feel like it will not be what I want as an RN. I did think about American Career College though..any advice?
The thing is my parents want me to finish school as soon as I can. so that's why it'd be a really hard decision if MSMC is going to take me a semester behind with only a religion class. I'm already done with all my GE's for bsn except for one class. I just really need to get into a nursing program right now and I'll be set.
Well a semester behind is a better option than WCU or AUHS. A better option than LVN first.
I did LVN first for a couple of reasons the major ones were needed a job soon since my husband wasn't earning as much and I wasn't sure I would like nursing.
Now if I get in for Fall I will finish up about 6months after I would had I started at MSMC from scratch.
So hope for the best but still a semester behind is not bad. You can work as a CNA or HHA earn some $$$ and some confidence.

Which is your current university? I have never heard of there being any problems with MSMC students transferring elsewhere. Usually a whole school is accredited by WASC not particular programs.
This is the listing page from the WASC site. It makes no mention of only certain programs being accredited. Are you sure your not confusing the CCNE accreditation which does only apply to the BSN program because that particular certification is only for 4 year degrees
WASC MSMC
Having said that after you finish the ADN you can finish your BSN with MSMC and it only takes a year.
