Mount St. Mary's College LA - Accelerated BSN 2009

Published

This is a new thread for anyone applying to the Mount St. Mary's College Accelerated BSN program in Los Angeles. Please feel free to share, and discuss your application process with us.

There is also lots of information available through previous MSMC threads!

Good luck to everyone!

:D

I am attending the Accelerated BSN program starting this fall and I was wondering if anyone else knows that they are going and would like to have roommates in a place next to school. I have been looking at places on craig's list and it looks like there are a lot of sweet places right next to campus. Let me know if you are interested and we can meet up and learn more about each other :)

Hey everyone, have any of you taken the online Bioethics class offered by Taylor University? If so, can you tell me how it was and how long it would take someone to complete? I've read a student has 6 months to complete it but I'm wondering if it can be done this summer because my schedule just opened up and I have time to take it...but I dunno if I can complete it in time. I'm also going to check with MSMC. Ok, thanks a lot! :)

thanks for your help. i'm heading to ecc right now. good luck on your pre-reqs. btw, why do you have to take communications?

it was the oral communications (public speaking) requirement, i'd taken a combo written and oral communications course and they did accept it for their public speaking :) next thing is financing...

i went to the fafsa website, and this may sound stupid but i don't know what grade level to put down, i thought i had seen somewhere on this website about being 1st yr graduate but not positive, does anyone know the answer to that?

I just started with the May cohort. I took the Taylor online bioethics class and completed it in less than a month so it's definitely doable even if you're slacking a bit. There are 5 papers, 4 are 6-8 pages and the last one is 25-30 pages. It may seem like a lot of work but the instructor is a very lenient grader. It will also save you a lot of money since MSMC will charge close to $1000 per unit (3 unit course second semester). Can't remember exactly what the fees at Taylor were, maybe around $275/unit + 4 books.

Congrats and good luck

Hey, I will be attending also and havn't decided if i'll have a roommate or not but it is an option. Let me know how I may contact you. thanks!

Thanks for the reply Cinsocal. I was worried about the time it would take, but now I definitely want to take it because I have about two months and no other classes to take anyways. Good luck to you too...thanks again!

Has anyone else been waitlisted? Just trying to get an idea of how many people are on the waitlist. Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I just received a call from Admissions, and I'm in!!! They're going down the waitlist so for anyone who is still waiting, there's still hope! Can't wait to meet you all in the Fall!

Congratulations! I've heard many great stories of people getting off waitlists...it does happen!! Don't giveup!!! :yeah:

I just got a call from admissions too, and they said I'd been taken off the wait list. Yay! So I'll be joining you all in the fall! :)

Does anyone know about the special Accelerated Nursing student housing they have on campus?

Hi Kalami,

I hadn't looked into housing because I'm planning to commute. I live in the San Gabriel Valley so I'm hoping the traffic won't be too bad. Did they tell you what your position was on the waitlist? I was #3. I wonder if the tuition is what was causing people to decide against MSMC. I'm already a bit nervous about how I'm going to finance my education! If there's anyone who's currently attending, could you please let me know where you took out loans from? Thanks!

Congrats on getting off the waitlist! Its going to be a great year and I to cant wait to see you all!
