Mount St. Mary's College ABSN SUMMER 2014

U.S.A. California

Published

This is a new thread for anyone that has applied to the Mount St. Mary's College Accelerated BSN program in Los Angeles for Summer 2014 entry.

This is my first application for admission to MSMC ABSN program; though, I was accepted for admission to their ADN program. Did anyone hear anything back yet for Summer 2014? Is there an interview process? I have read conflicting information on this topic. I haven't applied anywhere else; however, MSMC is my first and only choice.

Does anyone have any information as to when they will be sending out interviews/admission offers? I hear it's until February for May start dates!! Also, I received this email on January 10 regarding the Nursing Basic Math Test:

Dear Applicant,

We would like to thank you for your application to our Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program for the Summer 2014 cohort.

In an effort to assist you in completing the application process and assist us in determining who our most qualified applicants are, we are asking that every qualified applicant take our Nursing Basic Math Exam.

Students must past the Nursing Basic Math Exam with a grade of 100% in order to begin the program, so please diligently prepare for this exam. All students, regardless of entry level or previous successful completion of a college level math course, must take this test.

The Nursing Basic Math Exam does not affect your admissibility into the program. If an applicant does not receive 100% on the Nursing Basic Math Exam and is admitted into the program, they will be offered the opportunity to remediate and retest in late April before the program begins......

Would love to hear from fellow nursing school hopefuls :o)

Good luck to all you!!

Berry

Hi @twineejoy704, good luck on applying this cohort! I have a question, if you have re apply, do you have to supply 2 more letters of recommendations? or can you use the same ones as before?

Hi @Dreamer2291-

When I reapplied for the ABSN program, I did not have to resubmit to new letters of rec. They used the 2 letters that I had turned in with my last application. When I reapplied, I turned in another essay and a couple of forms that can be found on the website.

Good luck to you also!

Wow. Congrats to you guys on scoring 100%. I missed 3 :( but they said it won't affect admissibility. They had said that we would be hearing admission decisions by the end of the month but I'm not sure how that's gonna work out if they are still doing interviews. This whole waiting process is so nerve-wracking... I wish everyone luck and let's hope we all hear some good news soon

I also only missed it by a few :roflmao:

I wonder if we will be able to see which questions we missed before we retake the test???

I am really perplexed with this whole admissions process as I was under the impression that the interview process took weeks. Not sure how this will all work out since they anticipate sending out admission notices to the cohort members by the end of the month. It is almost the end of the month:nailbiting:.

Anyway, I wish everyone the best of luck.

So close yet so far! Lol. it's ok, we'll get it next time.

Has anyone been invited for an interview yet??? If so, when did they send you the email?

Yes I was wondering how they plan to give out decisions if its almost the end of the month already. My friend who graduated last year said that sometimes they let you know only a couple days in advance.

Hello everyone!!

Thank you for creating this thread! I feel that this year there has been so much less activity than from what I've read from previous years!! Anyways, I took the math test and missed it by 5 so I was pretty depressed and disappointed but I received an invitation for an interview this morning so that made me feel so much better!!

Best of luck everyone! And to those of you reading this, please join us in sharing the rest of this waiting experience as well! We can all benefit with each others help :)

Hi xjblee88x! I received an email to interview last Tuesday, January 14. I had my interview today, January 21 and the faculty member was nice.

I received an email request today to schedule an interview time and date so I'm set to interview this Friday. I wish you all luck during this next step :)

Hi everyone,

Thank you Berry for starting this thread! It is great to be able to be in touch and talk with others going through this process. I also received an email invitation for an interview earlier this afternoon and scheduled it for next Tuesday. Congrats and good luck to those who have received invites for interviews. For those still waiting, hang in there! Sometimes the process can take longer than anticipated. It's great to hear from everyone and hope to meet you soon!

@tmogirl010--

I think having this thread allows us to communicate our questions and concerns....so I hope it makes the waiting process a bit more manageable.

I received an email to interview this week; Thursday at 1:00 p.m. is the big day! Wish me luck!

Best,

Berry

@xjblee88x--

Seems that nothing is ever done in a uniform fashion. However, it looks like they have started calling prospective students for interviews this week and next; which is sooner than last year's cohort :speechless:

Kindest regards,

Berry
