Mount St. Mary's College ABSN SUMMER 2014

U.S.A. California

This is a new thread for anyone that has applied to the Mount St. Mary's College Accelerated BSN program in Los Angeles for Summer 2014 entry.

This is my first application for admission to MSMC ABSN program; though, I was accepted for admission to their ADN program. Did anyone hear anything back yet for Summer 2014? Is there an interview process? I have read conflicting information on this topic. I haven't applied anywhere else; however, MSMC is my first and only choice.

Does anyone have any information as to when they will be sending out interviews/admission offers? I hear it's until February for May start dates!! Also, I received this email on January 10 regarding the Nursing Basic Math Test:

Dear Applicant,

We would like to thank you for your application to our Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program for the Summer 2014 cohort.

In an effort to assist you in completing the application process and assist us in determining who our most qualified applicants are, we are asking that every qualified applicant take our Nursing Basic Math Exam.

Students must past the Nursing Basic Math Exam with a grade of 100% in order to begin the program, so please diligently prepare for this exam. All students, regardless of entry level or previous successful completion of a college level math course, must take this test.

The Nursing Basic Math Exam does not affect your admissibility into the program. If an applicant does not receive 100% on the Nursing Basic Math Exam and is admitted into the program, they will be offered the opportunity to remediate and retest in late April before the program begins......

Would love to hear from fellow nursing school hopefuls :o)

Good luck to all you!!

Berry

CONGRATS to everyone accepted to the summer 2014 cohort.

I am also applying to the fall 2014 cohort and received an email yesterday inviting me to take the math exam. I was wondering... is it pretty similar to the sample test they send out?

THANKS!

I received an email too @seavi I hope that is a good sign!!! I know they do interviews as well, a friend of mine is just finishing the RN program there. She loved it! Good luck to you!

Hi Berry!

I applied as an ADN student, but I haven't heard back.Did they accept you for the Fall 2014 ADN cohort?

Hello Everyone

Can you tell me if the test @ Mount St Mary's was a paper test or a computer program called Aleks? Just want to know because I have mastered the practice exam, but when I go to Aleks it is harder so I was just wondering.

Thank for the input.

Hi tmogirl- thanks for the info. Do you know if they accept people who did not recieve a 100% on the basic math exam? I missed one(got a 98%), does that mean I do not qualify?

Mine was paper. But I also took it at my local college as a proctor exam since I couldn't make it to one of the dates

Hi, I have applied for the Fall' 2014 cohort. For those of you who have gotten in, do you know what the average gpa was for students who got admitted?

Hi SS93,

Have you taken or have been invited to take the Math Placement Test? They invite those who are qualified applicants.

Hi Caslo,

thanks for the reply! Yeah, I just took it last week and I got a 90. I hope that doesn't affect their decision.

There is another forum FALL 2014 MSMC ABSN if you want to chat there. Not sure how many people that applied for this Fall check this forum as it says SUMMER 2014. =)

Hi everyone!

I'm about to start this upcoming fall cohort and I had a couple questions I'm hoping any past students could help me with. The program is so costly so I"m trying to save as much as I can. Does anybody have any recommendations on how to handle the financial aid/loans/scholarships to pay for school? I've been looking through scholarships and haven't found many options. Any recommendations on specific loan source?

Parking for the Doheny campus is also around 400$ a year, how is the surrounding area? Is it easy to avoid paying the fee and find street parking?

Do you have any other advice before starting the program?

Thank you so much! Your help is so appreciated.
