Mount Sinai PSON ABSN Fall 2021

Published

Starting the thread since I could only find Summer 2021z Has anyone applied to and/or gotten an admission decision from Mount Sinai PSON for their ABSN program starting Fall 2021? Where else did you apply? Share stats if comfortable, you know the drill! Thanks!

Well I took this class in 2018 and have submitted my application a while so I think at this point I’m at the schools mercy.

Wouldn’t  the school have reached out to me if there was any issue regarding my use of intro to philosophy?

Sure, but if you wanted to check you can. Up to you!

You’re right but I think I’ll just hope that it does count. Because otherwise I have all the other pre-requisites and As in them.

The best thing to do is email the school a copy of your syllabus in the morning and ask them if it will be accepted as an ethics course. Don’t wait around for them to reach out to you.

What could I even do tho at that point? Since the end of may is coming and that’s when final acceptance letters go out?

They do conditional acceptances, so you could take a Summer Ethics course and be ready for the Fall. I wouldn’t just leave it in God’s hands. Get some answers for yourself so you’re not going to this forum because we can’t tell you for sure. I think it will bring you a lot of peace of mind.

Okay you are definitely right. I’m going to reach out to them and hopefully get an answer I like. Or at least the ability to fulfill this requirement.

I feel optimistic for you!

also, are you sure the acceptances are done by the end of the month? I’ve Tried to get an answer from them and they won’t tell me

Thank you!

I have bugged them since April about this. They only tell me “We are still on the process of reviewing. The decision might be made by the end of May.”

From speaking to the Admissions office, my understanding is that they will conditionally accept applicants who still have 2-3 prerequisites outstanding at time of application, but they make the decision based on prerequisite GPA (so, if you have a strong prerequisite GPA, they'd be a lot more likely to extend a conditional acceptance, versus a lower prerequisite GPA, in which case they might ask for a midterm report or waitlist/reject). They told me that all prerequisites need to be completed and transcript sent to the office by July 9, 2021.

Hey! I applied April 1st and got an acceptance on May 13th. Our stats are almost identical. Good luck ?

Ditto. Slightly higher undergrad GPA, almost 4.0 prereq GPA, little to no direct medical experience, applied in early April.

Here's the thing: We're all qualified. We're all good students. I've decided that if we all did this much work to get here, we want this enough. I wish it for all of you.

Having worked in various admissions offices in the past, I honestly don't see an algorithm to this process, or even a rhyme or reason. They sound like they're going through major transitions, and are understaffed and possibly overwhelmed, that anyone could slip through the cracks.

I had also applied to another ABSN program back in November (from which I've heard zilch) and felt like I learned a lot from that application process. So when I began to focus on the PSON application, I worked on really selling my soft skills and building stronger essays and resume. But I'm not sure I'm a better or worse candidate than anyone here. We all deserve this. And there are plenty of spots still left open, so distract yourself as much as you can during this agonizing wait. This has been so emotionally hard that I don't even think the acceptance has sunk in yet.

I had some back-up ideas in the works in case I was rejected, so put a plan in motion, if that helps you feel like you have some control in this. Keep going, everyone. Don't give up. Fight for this. That's what I would have been telling myself.

This is the energy and advice I needed!

I think we all are amazing determine students. do not be discouraged if you not heard back from the school. have a plan A, B, C, D and all. Two weeks ago made my decision and made my deposit to my school choice. my class start June 1. I'm excited to be starting nursing school.

Do Not be Discourage again just go with your other plans. I'm sure all of you guys apply to other schools. Just because a student with a higher GPA got accepted before you does not mean that your not smart. My friend recently graduate from nursing school and her GPA was a 2.9 she took her NCLEX and passed on the first attempt, however there was another student with a higher GPA than her had to take her exam twice before she pass.

I know it's frustrated, but don't give up.  My Chemistry once told me if it's your dream to become a nurse you will find a way to accomplish this dream.

Good luck to all.

Here's a list of schools with an accelerate program
