Hi Everyone! I just want to start a thread for people who applied for MSMU's ABSN Program fall admission this year! We can keep each other updated here. ?
I spoke with Agasia yesterday and she said that about half of the cohort has already accepted their spot and to just be on a look out for more info that the admissions office will be sending out. Anyone that lives far planning to move closer to campus?
Thank you for updating us @kpilpil!
Did Agasia say all acceptances have gone out? Or did she say half have gone out & they've all accepted it? Will more acceptances be going out? I don't understand what more information we're supposed to be waiting for from admissions.
I've called so many times for more information, I think they have me tagged in their system lol
It's frustrating how vague admissions can be. I don't understand why everyone's status on the portal can't be updated at once. For example, mine isn't updated still.
Have a great weekend!
@helloello I spoke with admissions yesterday and they told me that they mailed the admissions letters this Monday 7/2/18 and that if I dont get my letter by this coming Monday to give them a call
Thank you for your reply @cg2961!
I understand there might be a delay with the USPS delivering our mail considering we had 7/4 on Wednesday, but there is no excuse for everyone's application portal not to be updated. I work in the legal field & I understand the legal implications of admissions announcing the decisions over the phone, but not seeing an updated decision online in your own application portal is very frustrating. The only information I need to proceed with the next step is an final admissions decision, nothing more. My apologies to everyone if I sound annoyed & upset lol I swear I'm not this cranky in person lol
@HelloEllo
Hey! It's ok, we understand the frustration, but try to wait it out a little bit longer. You'll never know what happens.
From what I know, there are two rounds of acceptances. The first round consisted of 40 candidates. The second round includes the people on the waitlist, I wasn't told how many people but there is a list. In this case, if the the first round of acceptances did not reach the program's capacity, admissions will go ahead with the second round of reviews. It's safe to assume that MAYBE admissions will proceed to update everyone else portal by then. I called Agasia yesterday and was told that accepted applicants have until the 16th of July to put in a deposit. For me, that's a long wait, but I am staying hopeful that I get accepted. So don't lose hope, there are candidates who applied to several programs besides MSMU!
I hope that provides you a little sense of relief!

Hi @JD17_,
Thanks for your comment & understaning regarding my frustration lol It looks like I have no choice but to be patient until I receive a letter or an update on my portal. Have a great weekend!
Helloello and others who are waiting...so maddening not to know, especially as it gets closer to August. Frustration is normal and completely understandable! Given what JD17 explained, the good news is that the portals have not yet been updated with a decision because there is still a possibility you'll be accepted. Would imagine that some applicants are still waiting on Concordia which means they may hold off until the deadline of July 18th to accept or decline the initial wave of offers. So as tortuous as it sounds, July 19th may be the next date to look toward. I've also noticed in previous threads that many who post they were not accepted on their initial application seem to be admitted in the next cohort. So even if this isn't a yes, Spring 2019 may be a go. Here's to remaining hopeful and confident that we will ALL be admitted, if not now, in the near future to the program that best supports our mission to become the best RNs we can be.
Sounds arbitrary, but I have been googling "Mt St Mary's housing apartments" and "Housing near USC" hahah. I've found a couple! Luckily, there are plenty of housing options within a 15 min radius (using the backstreets)! I wouldn't recommend Craigslist, it's not too helpful. Also, in myMSMU, there is an offcampus housing listing. I haven't been able to access it yet, even though I've paid my deposit.
