Hi everyone,
I submitted my application for MSMU ABSN Fall 2017 a couple of weeks ago and thought it would be great to start a page and see who else applied!
Sounds like we should be hearing whether we're invited to take the math exam within the next month!
Has anyone heard anything else? It'd be great to keep each other updated through this crazy process!
Good luck to everyone!
If you have completed any of your outstanding prerequisites I would suggest you submit your transcript ASAP. I feel that has an impact on your chances of being invited for an interview because it gives them a better (not tentative for those who are currently taking the prereqs) picture of your academic competence.
I finished my science prerequistes and glendale cc said they'd send over the transcripts asap since grades were posted 6/20. And I'm enrolled in philosophy that will end in 2 weeks. I feel like maybe they already made a decision on me since I haven't even received any auto emails. but best of luck to everyone!
I still hope they're doing interviews....only 22 people have received invites, thus far! There has to be more if they have at least 40 spots...right?
unless the 18 are automatic acceptances! but then again might be more on the chance that those who got interviews will not be extended acceptance? or if they accept more than 40 students :) fingers crossed!
Allow me to put to rest some of the fallacies and assumptions that we so far have about this entire application process:
(1) people who got 90% and above with their math scores only get interviewed: entirely wrong, i interviewed today and found one person who really did not do well in the math exam but still got invited. It really is about the total package.
(2) not everyone will be invited and only those they feel they need to clarify certain stuff will be interviewed: wrong again, the questions I encountered are typical of any interview, they are not specific or unique to your situation. Also, you are interviewed in pairs so the questions are General in structure in that sense.
(3) there is automatic acceptance (i.e. No need for interview)-- i don't completely buy this, I mean just like @hricthie13 said you need to meet people inperson to asssess if they fit the mold.
P.S. don't ask me what questions were asked during the interview, I think we are bound to keep those confidential.
GOodluck to everyone and let us all stay positive. IT is not the end of the world if you don't get accepted, there are numerous school awaiting for you.

Well said!
I agree with you regarding the math test. On their website, I remember seeing something about needing to score a 100% on the math test for admissions and now that statement is no where to be seen. It does seem like they are mostly interested in the "total package", as you say.
Regarding interviews, I have been told many times by individuals from Mt. St. Mary's that just because you do not get an interview does not mean you will not get accepted. I was assured by multiple people and other applicants have said the same thing. So, if some of you haven't received an interview at all, I wouldn't lose hope. I was told the same exact thing this morning, as well as decision letters "will be mailed out next week."
I asked about what we should do about fulfilling the clinical clearance requirements in case we get accepted and I was told not to worry about it just yet. They have a "timeline deadline" and the first week of July is that deadline. I was told that this cohort is the first time there has been so many issues and a lot of coincidental things have popped up and to be assured that everything is going to be finished with enough time for us to fulfill all our clinical requirements before class starts on August 21st.
***Furthermore, since this cohort hasn't experienced the same process as previous cohorts, we might not be judged the same regarding acceptance (i.e. not needing an interview & non-100% math scores). Just my two cents.
Hello,Yes more interviews were conducted yesterday. 14people. They told us that decisions will be made on Friday and sent out via snail mail
That's good to hear. If I remember correctly from my interview, I believe we should be receiving an email before we get something in the mail. So hopefully tomorrow we will know via email if we're accepted or not!
