Mount Saint Mary's ABSN FALL 2011

Published

Just reaching out to other fellow nursing students who applied for this coming Fall 2011 ABSN program at Mount Saint Mary's (Los Angeles)...I completed my application a few weeks ago.

ha ha ha....oh well!! Looking forward to meeting everybody. :)

Has anyone that was accepted registered for classes yet? I know we can't post the professors names on here, but I'm just wondering if anyone has heard which professors are the best to take?

Hi SrudentNurseLA, have you decide whether or not you are moving closer to campus or commuting to school. I'm still interested in carpooling if you decide to commute. I live right next to the 60 and 57. I'm also planning on taking the metro when we don't have clinicals.

I'm still planning on moving, but haven't really started looking for a place yet. I tried private messaging you about two weeks ago, but I'm not sure if it went through. If I don't end up moving, I'll be more than happy to commute. I'll try to private message you again. :)

Hi new August cohort! Congratulations on your acceptance to the program! You are going to have an amazing year which will change your life! I am graduating from the program in about 5 weeks. Let me know if you have any questions.

Have you gotten your book lists yet?

Has anyone sorted out financial aid yet? I called about it and they told me they would be contacting me but kinda feeling anxious about it now. I feel like classes are starting so soon and there's so much to do!

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone! It's good to know that I'm not the only one having this problem. I am at Fullerton College right now and I feel like I've tried almost all the JCs in Orange County and the surrounding areas but with no better luck. I guess I'll just have to keep trying and keep my fingers crossed this semester. For those that have gotten accepted in to Mount St. Mary's, what experience (volunteer or paid) did you have prior to applying and for how long?

hang in there...it took me 2 years to fight for my classes and with enough persistence you'll be able to get the classes you need to transfer into a great nursing school. personally, i had 0 volunteer hours when i applied, but maintained a solid work experience and life skills that helped me get through the interview. i hope this helps...volunteering really does help, i wish i did it before i applied. hope this helps...how many pre-reqs do you have left? try and find any kind of volunteering gig...everyone i talked to had at least 6months to 3 years of volunteer exp.

Fisherking, did you get accepted without any experience? Right now I'm trying to volunteer at St. Jude Hospital or through the Clinical Care Extender Program. Both are really competitive and St. Jude doesn't have any openings until next spring. I still have to take Chem, Phys, and Microbio, but besides that I only have 3 other classes. It's just the sciences that are giving me a tough time. I am currently trying to apply to a couple other community colleges to increase my chances, but I don't know if it will help.

Hi!! I just wanted to introduce myself and say I can't wait to meet you all. Is anyone planning to move close to campus?

I am in the CCE program. I completed 190 volunteer hours when I applied to MSMC. I also got a letter of recommendation from the director of administration. Im actually doing interviews this Thursday, July 9th for the program. Let me know if you have any questions about the program. I'll be happy to help!

I'm in the same boat. I haven't got any information about payment plans, etc. I was thinking of asking on Thrusday during the math exam.
