Mount Saint Mary's ABSN FALL 2011

Published

Just reaching out to other fellow nursing students who applied for this coming Fall 2011 ABSN program at Mount Saint Mary's (Los Angeles)...I completed my application a few weeks ago.

Hi new August cohort! Congratulations on your acceptance to the program! You are going to have an amazing year which will change your life! I am graduating from the program in about 5 weeks. Let me know if you have any questions.

I also wanted to let you guys know that I am selling my books. Have you gotten your book lists yet?

We haven't recieved the book list yet. I registered for classes last week, but all of the classes don't have any books listed as of last week. Congrats on graduating!!

I am in the CCE program. I completed 190 volunteer hours when I applied to MSMC. I also got a letter of recommendation from the director of administration. Im actually doing interviews this Thursday, July 9th for the program. Let me know if you have any questions about the program. I'll be happy to help!

What are some of your responsibilities in the CCE program? Are they flexible with schedules because I work part time and go to school full time. And what exactly are the looking for in volunteers since it is such a competitive program I would like to increase my chances as much as possible. Do you feel that the program helped you grasp what it is to become a nurse? Thanks for all your help!

Does anyone know if the book list for Fall 2011 is posted yet?

Also- for those taking Bio-ethics online through Taylor University. What does it mean to "support your position with an ethical arguement" on the modules. Does that mean to state my opinion then back it up with one of the major theories like Kantian ethics or Utilitarianism?

Yes, the book list is posted. If you click on the classes you registered for in your schedule you'll see. Sorry, can't help you with the Taylor class; I'm taking it at Mount.

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to know how everyone was doing at Mount St Marys? I am planning on applying to MSMC March 2012 for August 2012, so same time as you guys!

Is there any advice you guys could give me to make myself a stronger applicant?

I am a senior at UCSB and so I do not have as much work experience as most of you it seems, however I do have a lot of community service, hospital volunteer hours, and leadership positions I am involved in!

Also, at the time of my application, I will be enrolled in Microbio and will have just finished my second religious studies course. Do you think this will hurt my application? If yes, should I wait to apply in November?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I am so lost!

Hello jmlee,

I just applied for the ABSN AUG 2012, and just wanted from feedback as to how strong is your application?

Hey guys. Here's some advice for those of you who are applying to the ABSN program at MSMC. I had applied to this program for fall of 2011 and had a course in progress during the summer. Despite this, I had an interview with them. However prior to grades coming out for the summer session, they were already sending out acceptance letters. Later I was informed that they did not accepted me because I had not completed all my courses in time prior to them accepting students. The good thing is that they keep all your documents (transcripts, test scores, etc.) and you can simple fill out an reactivation form for the following admittance term (summer) along with a new personal statement about what you had done since your last application, instead of reapplying. So this is what I did, I sent them the last transcript once my grades came out, did the form and statement which has no additional fee. Later I got a call during interviewing time and was told that I do not need an interview because they remember me and got accepted now that I have completed everything. I will be attending the college May of 2012 for the ABSN program. So my advice is that although you can apply with courses in progress, if you are applying for the Fall, make sure you will have all your courses completed by the end of spring. Having to take some courses in the summer really reduces your chances because interviews and acceptance letter are done in the summer and they have a pool of people who have everything completed by then. As for experiences, work is great but volunteer experiences in a hospital setting, nursing home, etc., is fine. GPA, what really matters are your prerequisite. Good Luck.

Hi! I'm reapplying as well and was wondering, is the new personal statement just about what progress you have made since you've last applied? Also, how long should the new personal statement be?

Hi I'm also reapplying and had a question about the new personal statement. Since its a new personal statement, are we supposed to write what progress I've made since I've last applied? How long should the new statement be?
