Motlow 2019 applicants

Published

Hello (: my name is Kyla

Just wondering if anybody else is applying to MSCC's 2019 nursing program? The application opens up in a couple of weeks and I have been pretty nervous...I have never applied to a nursing program before and I hear that it is pretty competitive. If anybody would like to share their experience(s) that would be awesome!

@wkrbee Now that you are in your second semester, would you mind sharing roughly what your schedule is like?

@kzmmx Here is my calendar from 1st semester. It will probably be more confusing than helpful as mine turned out to be a personal calendar also. I did not want to chance transferring the school schedule wrong. Hence.. the black outs.

There is still a chance! Did you take your hesi? Maybe they have access to your midterm grades...I'm not sure how that works, but if you did well in your other classes then I'm sure you still have a shot!

I did! I scored an 88% on the HESI. And I have a 4.0 in my other classes, so I am reserving a little bit of hope!

@kzmmx This semester has been so nuts. I've lost track of what day it is half the time. I was able to download a clean calendar for 2nd semester though and it may be beneficial to those that are bridging. A bit of an outline - Med Surg clinicals (CFE) you only go 6x's and Mental Health 4x's plus attend a Support Group. All subject to change of course.

@wkrbee Awesome! Thank you so much. I know it is usually discouraged, but if I happen to get accepted I would like to try to keep my job and just work three 12's Friday through Sunday, if possible. I have all of my general requirements completed and would only need the core nursing classes so I am hoping that will take some of the load off...although I hear it is still pretty overwhelming. Is there anybody in your class that has been able to maintain their job while in the program?

@kzmmx Yes, plenty of my classmates are working through school. One in particular has a similar schedule - Fri/Sat/Sun. The only issue will be if you get a Saturday clinical. Just let the instructors know and I'm sure they will work with you. Keep in mind you will also have class and exams on Monday. She shows up pretty wiped out, but it can be done! #rndetermined!

Does anyone know when 2 year orientation will be?

@myjourney2nursing thank you for your optimism ? I really hope we all do. It feels like an eternity waiting for the next couple of weeks to go by ?

You're welcome. Today I just got my interview invitation letter for Nashville State. I am so excited and nervous at the same time. omg!!! ?? I'm glad they don't do interviews at Motlow, one last thing to worry about! ?

@wkrbee Thank you for all the info.

Hey all! almost time to find out :)

Can anyone help me with the scoring system?

I made a 91.20 on my HESI. Which classes do they take into consideration for your gen ed and how do you get the additional points for classes?

multiply .912x300 for your hesi points and here is a pic of the nursing classes. bonus points are in statistics, A&P 1, and comp 1
