Motivated, Anxious & in Need of Help Please

Published

I graduated with a BSN in 1980, however, due to circumstances I never took my boards. As time went on I felt more incompetant eventhough I always remained in the medical field. Nsg. has always been in my heart & left a big void in my life. At age 52 & 26 yrs later I finally decided to do something about it! I took a RN refresher course recently & have been studying on my own to prep fpr the NCLEX. I rec. my ATT# & not sure when I should take the exam. I'm scared that the exam has changes to it as of April 1,2007. Is it possible that I can organize my time & be ready before April 1st?

I'm als now in need on what's the best NCLEX for me to review with, whether it be DVDs, Online, or a classroom(ie.Kaplan). I've been basically usung Sally Lagerquist's NCLEX-RN Success (Davis's books) which I found to be a great tool. She offers a DVD set ($400) for review prior to exam taking. I don't know if I should go this route or another. Also, if you can give advice as to when I should schedule/take my exam.

...any insight you could offer me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Again

Hello! Congratulations to you on your next step to becoming a nurse! :balloons: IMO, you are better off buying a Kaplan review course instead of the Davis one. Kaplan is around $450 and I heard it was really great. The Saunders book (3rd ed.) is also great and comes with a CD that has thousands of questions.

As for worrying about taking the exam before April 1st, DONT let that decide when to take your test. The changes are minimal and you can go to the National Council's website and look under the "test plan" and it will give you specifics on the changes. Dont rush into taking your test because of that. Take your test when you feel ready and you will do just fine.

Good luck and best wishes!

Thank you for caring.

How do I register to NCSBN's site so I can get info on NCLEX practice?

Then go to the left and click on "nclex" and a list will pop up and say "test plan". No need to register for that info
