Mother baby/ Labor and Delivery Nursing

Published

I know I eventually I want to be a labor and delivery nurse. I figured entering the Mother and Baby arena first, would provide some experience before entering L&D. However, every single mother and baby, as well as L&D position requires experience. How can I obtain experience, when every position requires previous experience?

I am lost and confused.

Hey, i recently got hired as a new graduate nurse on L&D. Best advice i can give you is to NETWORK. Also, try to get some doula experience. There are a lot of helpful youtube video about getting hired in specialty nursing areas. Here is one that I really liked :

Best of luck!!!

I'm not a new nurse but looking for a way into MB also! I did a year and half on a PCU/tele step down and then left the hospital to do HH case management for the last year and half. Needless to say, the paperwork is becoming too much for myself and my work/life balance and I have 2 small children. Any recommendations on breaking in? Ty!
