Most silly reason for being called in the office?

Published

okay...this morning i got called into 'the office' aka "nurse manager's office" for the most stupid complaint:

forgot to label iv tubing on a patient we sent to the cath lab!! i was so furious that after a busy 16 hour shift, she had the nerve to call me in the office and 'counsil' me on this.

other half of the story: my patient had a door-to-balloon time of 37 minutes....a hospital record!!! but i recieved no recognition because my iv tubing not labeled!!! the cath lab was so impressed!!! however, my nurse manager was not:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::bugeyes::bugeyes::bugeyes::bugeyes::bugeyes::bugeyes::bugeyes::bugeyes::bugeyes::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

any good ones?

Yeah Id give him a dry tube, put a foley in without any K-Y. He'll learn!!!!!!

I got called in for not adapting to my co-workers. I was a the in a busy county ER and did not adapt well to co-workers (techs) who would tell me things like quit helping the nurses so much or they won't want to do anything for themselves. I didn't adapt to their lazy and petty attitudes and am starting a new the job this coming friday at a bigger hospital with more money. Guess I won in the end. I still feel bad for my nurses at the old place though, even worse for the patients.

D2B of 37 minutes...awesome!

Manager's half of story: "I've been told that you're visiting several of the firehouses, eating meals with them, and being inappropriate with the firemen while they're on duty."

The truth: I was overheard talking about my recent vacation back home, during which I ate lunch at a fire station with old school friends. (Oh, and did I mention that my dad was the chief?)

Someone overheard part of a story, injected their own ideas, and suddenly I was a wh()re!

:uhoh21:

and being that this was on your own 'off' time away from work, not on the clock, she still decided it was her business?? Geeesh!!!

putting O's on a patient having MI, never mind I didn't get an order first before we slapped the 2L of O's on him, MONA???

not charting a pt's I/O completely- left out IV total- but rapid responsed her at 7 am due to worsening CHF and decreased LOC

Manager called me in and said : " one of the nurses was upset because you were not making eye contact with her when she was giving you report" I didn't realize it was offensive to look at a nurses' note ( meds given, vitals, etc) of a patient on whom I am getting report.

Sounds like they need to be set straight..........and get a life of her own...hahahaha

Called me into the office one evening and reamed me for being in nursing for the paycheck, that I had left my calling, all this pie in the sky stuff.

Um, leaving my calling, leaving my first love???? Isn't that in the Bible, pertaining to backsliding???? A job on night shift in a short staffed, filthy, hole in the wall nursing home IS in no way comparable to backsliding from one's religion.

In nursing for the paycheck. Well, I guarantee you I am not coming in there and taking all this crap for free!!!! And are YOU not taking that paycheck as soon as it's handed to you??? Oh you are, well, imagine that!!!!

I let things get to me. Hmmm, I had 39 residents and one aide. I gave all the meds at 9p, 12m, and 6a, did all the treatments, did all the charting, did all the accuchecks, talked with visiting family members who had concerns, took delivery from the two different pharmacies that delivered, helped serve and feed supper and collect trays, do rounds with the aide every two hours, changing beds and people AND had to run to the other two floors if their QMAs needed help or to send a resident out. AND I LET THINGS GET TO ME??? Do tell!!!

I still don't feel bad for leaving that place.
