More than 55 slots droped from MCC's NS's

I've been doing a little research, trying to figure out the odds of at least getting in to a class this spring and found out one of the reasons I was so misled about being able to get in. They had 394 slots available last spring. This spring there were only 339. That means that instead of increasing slots like we've been led to believe, they are actually deleting them. There were at least four programs that appear to have been dropped from Maricopa. I thought with that bond that was passed that we were going to be increasing slots, not deleting them. Has anyone heard why they might have gotten rid of almost all of the accelerated programs? It's great that they're continuing to add partnerships, but why are they deleting slots? There were about 500 applicants for this run, if they'd left the 400 slots, plus the 40 Banner will take up, almost all of the applicants would have been accepted.

Thanks for doing the research on the numbers. I really want to know the straight story as to how many slots they have to fill. It doesn't seem that I can ever get a straight answer.

Anytime, I'm like that. I have to search out the answers to give myself either some hope, or for me to start making alternative plans. That may be a reason, 'cause it seems like almost all of the accelerated programs were dropped. I called one of the head people at Gateway today (I don't think we're supposed to name names here), she's usually very helpful and upbeat. She said that you never know what is going to happen between now and January. There's a lot of things that could happen, new programs added, new partnerships, you never know. She also said that there's a huge turnover up through the first week of school and lots of slots could open up. I've never heard anything like that. It just seems to me that after spending so much time waiting to get in people would not only make sure they do whatever it takes to keep their seat. But that's just me. I suppose some people might want to drop out, or things come up, I just don't see it happening to very many people YKWIM? I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed until the end of that first week. Are you going to put any other courses down on your application? I was thinking about adding some, just in the offchance that they even get to my number.

what?! accelerated programs deleted? Ugh! I was just now looking over the advanced placement app for LPN - RN thinking that those accelerated options looked nice. The accelerated online one at Rio is still going, correct? What about the hybrid one at gateway?

Looks like I'm going to be doing some calling around tomorrow to see whats going on. I will share the info I learn. If anyone knows anything else or can answer my questions I'd really appreciate it.

The accelerated programs that I know about are the ones through Banner/Gateway and SCC/Scottsdale Healthcare. I'll bet there's others but I just know that MCC doesn't offer an acclerated program any longer.

I've got it marked down which ones have been deleted, I'll try and post it tomorrow. Gateway doesn't have a hybrid program. I think they tried it, but they aren't offering it. I think the only program Gateway is offering this spring is the traditional 4 semester. I think the only accelerated programs are Rio (which is just now being offered for spring, it was just offered fall before) and I think Scottsdale's p/t program is offered as well. Also, they didn't let anyone know (at least not on the application) but Scottsdale's traditional program is nights instead of days. I've heard that a lot of people are upset by this.

Two of the girls in my patho class tonight were summer applicants and they were placed. One of them is a Scottsdale Healthcare employee and got into that program, but the other one ended up with her 5th choice. Neither of them knew what their lottery numbers were, so that's no help.
