hi guys.. i took my first nclex-rn last friday with the computer shutting off at 180 questions with 1 and a half hours left.. i think my anxiety got ahead of me because i was praying that the comp would stop at 75. i got 4-5 sata's, few infxn, 1 ekg strip, 2 math, lots of priority and delegation questions.. i did the pearson vue trick last night and didn't get the good pop up, only saw that the delivery of my nclex to the chosen state BON was delivered successfully.

guys what am i to do? i'm in the stage of denial but really want to move on. i feel sorry for my dad having to waste a big sum of money for me to take nclex again. my parents were really confident that i'd pass my first try considering i was an honor student all throughout my years of studying. when i told them the news they said "it's ok jenny, you can take it again next time and pass.. we have faith in you and God has a plan. don't give up" it hurt me having to see them utter those words and i hate myself for having failed them. guys what can i do to move on? what can i study to pass next time?

i'm 21 years old and 7 months pregnant.both dad and my hubby are the ones shouldering my review expenses, but dad insists he spend more because he understands that hubby is still in college( senior year ).i feel so ashamed at my parents.. i am so lucky to have parents like them still supporting me after the trouble i caused them, getting myself pregnant and failing the exam that would change my whole life. pls advise me. should i rest for a few days and then start studying again? i plan on retaking nclex asap, maybe by november after giving birth.."time is gold" is my present motto. :) God please help me

Did you get the CC page?

If you did, I'd consider waiting a few days to just relax and get your emotions out. Then start working on your personal reasons of why YOU think you failed- anxiety. Once that's complete start diving back into the books. As for retesting, I would really recommend trying to test before you give birth because you don't know how tied up you will be and the stress of being a new mother, but as it seems is that you have lots of support. So if you really think you can manage juggling studying, taking the NCLEX, and motherhood- then go for it. As for your parents, you haven;t failed them. This is just a little bump in the road. You have graduated from college WITH HONORS. That is such an accomplishment, that is something to be proud of. That is four years of doing greatm this is one time, one exam (yes it's important I know) but your four years and accomplishments totally trump this one time disadvantage. Collect yourself, study, and prepare to kick ass the second time around.

Best of luck

IST of all congrats on your baby!!what a gift from God above so dont blame urself by getting pregnant at age of 21..

secondly im so sorry to hear you failed ur test....inteligent students fails in nclex so again dont blame urself for not passing because of ur school STARS RECORDS..i havent pass my nclex yet so its inappropriate for me to advice you.but heres a story i want to share that i hope will help u decide

my wife was pregnant 5 yrs ago with our little princess now..she asked me should i schedule my nclex after giving birth or shall i book it before.....

i told her u should book ur test before giving because of the following reason

1)reviewing when u have a little one is very difficult, as ur time will be limited due to ur commitment of looking after ur little one

2) shes got lots of time to review as shes on maternity leave(she work full time as an( RN SURGICAL WARD)we are uk nurses btw.

3) i have faith on you.

few months after BAMMM she passed her nclex(my wife was not an honor student,,in fact i have more flying colors in nursing schooll THAN HER..

so my adviced if i may JENNY....take a break,,its ok things happened for a reason,,i failed my nclex 2x,,considering i have 17 yrs of RN experienced...so its only shows u that nclex doesnt test how intellegent u are,,,ur parents have faith on you...and they know u can do it....be strong ur baby can feel it,,so dont let that little one knows what goin on on ur head:)..

on all my my 3 reason ,the 3rd one is important...i have faith on you ....so go girl take a break come back strong..

ps if u need some review stuff, documents i have a few that i filed from this sites..if u need some helping hand...(what are ur review materials)

Joe:)

Give yourself a few days to rest. Get your NCLEX result print out and find out what areas you need to improve on for the test. If you can, I'd recommend taking the test again before you give birth. I think with a newborn baby, your available study time will be extremely limited. Good luck to you.

thank you guys so much for the tips..i'm planning on purchasing a few more books this week then am gonna start reviewing first thing on monday.

joe17:thank u for the advice dude, it makes me feel i'm not alone. and yes a baby really is a blessing. i'm just kinda concerned that i'm getting these little braxton hicks contractions sometimes. gosh i hope i don't deliver pre-term :( anyway, i just read saunders and did practice questions on the cd 100 times a day.. i even went to a 1 month review center here in the philippines (which i kinda regret going to because the profs there gave me false assurance), taught me tackling questions which did not meet the difficulty level of real nclex questions. i think i didn't understand my content that much. i just scanned saunders and finished all med surg topics in 2 weeks, getting just the basic points.

i was also devastated with the meds questions that nclex gave me. i didn't know much of them being asked to me.

any good books you guys recommend? i plan on buying la charity and doing a hurst review online.. do you think it would be of any help? how did the misis study? God bless all of us frustrated nclex retakers.. success isn't measured by the first take am i right :) let us not lose hope

yes i've heard that kaplan qbank is useful if you're in the mood to tackle many nclex type questions but i also heard it's kinda pricey is this true? i don't know what to say to my father.. hehe how much is it nowadays?does it also have an online review?

Kaplan Qb is £200. Kaplan online live is £399. While Kaplan online on demand is £325( I have enrolled on this one)will be finishing by Ist week OCt. It's almost 4months. While hurst is around$500 if I known I would have gone to hurst for review then Kaplan for Qbank.

I know exactly where you are coming from. The only thing I thought when I walked out of the testing center after my nclex was "Gosh i hope I dont let my parents down". I always wanted to be a nurse and I ended up getting pregnant when I was 18. Some of my family members said "there goes her schooling". I was determined to prove them wrong and finish school so I could provide for my baby. Congrats on your pregnancy and use that wonderful baby as extra motivation. I graduated in May and took the nclex yesterday, found out I passed today. I did the kaplan in class and online. I would suggest the kaplan online if you want to answer a lot of questions. The kaplan questions in my opinion are WAY more difficult than the nclex so if you're able to do well with kaplan, you should have no problem passing the nclex next time. Good luck dear!

Your story reminds me of mine when it comes to the parents, IT Really does hurt cause I hated to disappoint them. It will be okay your parents are still proud of you. Keep your head up. You have done an awesome job In Nursing school by being an honor student. This is just one test and you will pass it. This to shall pass! God is always with us. Good luck and God bless you and your precious baby!

Definitely try to study and re-take the test before the baby is born. There will be little to no-time to study after your child is born. Be confident and make sure you go over everything you are no sure about until you can recite it in your sleep!

Good luck!

Lippincott Q and A. 6000 questions by the time you are done, its almost like you took a full review class.

its $30 online. Dont waste your money on a review class, you have the knowledge from school, you just need to be familiar with the questions.
