How do the students with kids manage? I have little ones and they’re not potty trained yet. I am debating if I should do my masters instead although I really want to be a Nurse.
Well, if you have time this Summer and if you REALLY only want to go to UMSON, you would have to retake Chem 1, Ap2 and Ap 1. I calculated your current science GPA, and if you wanted a minimum 2.75 science GPA, you would need to retake those 3 classes and get As in 2 of them and only 1 B.

Hi @zbarrie,
In first semester you have one full day of doing clinicals at the nursing home. You will be there from 7am-4/5pm. For me I had clinicals on Monday and I had it with Professor Carter, she is an ABSOLUTE DREAM. I still am very close with her, so if you guys get her you are lucky! You will have lectures twice a week. For me I had lecture Tuesdays 8-10:50AM and Wednesdays 7:30-10:20AM and then 11-1:50PM. But I had classmates who had lectures in the evenings. But remember you will have to be on campus to do practice lab hours, so you will have to find time in the week to go back to campus. You will need time to study with classmates, reviews with professors and to do homework. You don't get to pick your schedule and you can NOT change it. Now for second semester I only go in twice a week. For the first seven weeks I had lecture on Fridays 9:30-11:20AM and then 12:30-2:20PM. Everyone will have lectures on Fridays at these times. My first clinical site was at Germantown hospital on Thursdays. For the second half of the semester it was supposed to switch to Saturdays at Sibley, but because of COVID we had to do virtual simulations. Everyone will switch clinical sites after 7 weeks, it can take place on the weekends like I had or during weekdays. You will not get to pick your clinical site or schedule.

Phew! I’d have to retake A&P 1! That’s gonna be the death of me but anything for my dream career! Thank you so much for taking your time to calculate my GPA. If I had you as my advisor , I would’ve been in a much better place LOL
It's a lot of work but I did it too. I had a B in Ap1, and I retook it for an A. I had a F in CHem 1, I retook for a C and then retook for a B! My TEAS score was around 76%. These grades and scores DO NOT determine how well you can do in nursing school. All of my exams and Final grades have only been As and Bs.
My classmate is a mom of 3 who works full time, I don't know how she does it but she manages! while she wouldn't be able to come in for in person study sessions, she would Facetime us so that she could study from home.

@jbren, I am not sure about Ws but I don't think they do, but retakes will count.

WOW!! I never thought this could happen to anyone else and they’d get into Nursing.. let alone into UMSON! I’m sooo proud of you!??
I know my grades don’t tell the whole story. What are the required books for first semester? & where do you get your pdfs? I think I prefer pdfs too. & is there any subject you recommend reviewing before starting the program?(I’m being a little too optimistic..?) LOL

Thank you! It's a lot of hardwork but if you're determined, you can make it happen!
Required books for first semester......you need the Nurse's Pocket Guide, Fundamentals of Nursing and Health Assessment for Nursing Practice. You can find PDFs for these. For reviewing ahead of time I would say knowing your conversions. ML to L or teaspoons to ML etc.

Thank you! You are a good person for coming here to answer our questions eventhough I'm sure you have a lot to do.

Hi! Is there anything that you wish you would've known before starting the Nursing program that you know now thats worth noting? Also, do you know what the stats were of your cohort? TEAS scores? prerequisite grades? GPA? etc. Anything helps as I am anxiously waiting for the end of the month!
thanks ?
Hi @jbren what’s happening at the end of the month? is it when MC will let us know of whether we got in or not? Do you know if they are sending paper mail or email?

Hi @QueenB
Right around the memorial week is when students find out if they got accepted or not to the program. If you get accepted or waitlisted you will receive a certified letter on the mail.

Thank you @Tatiana Berrios ! In the Zoom info session back in April, Prof Matthews didn’t want to give a time frame because they are all working from home now, thanks to Covid:/ did that change?
