Montgomery College, how long?

Published

I sent in my application for the fall at Montgomery College today. The deadline is March 1st. Does anyone know about how long I can expect to wait before I get an answer?

Thx,

Nikki

You're welcome Nikki. Decisions are tough at times.

A portion of the class was a review of A & P. I had Lombardo-took an evening class, 6-9:20? (Monday was all that was offered in the fall). We had 4 homework assignments: i.e. planning a menu, assessing a food choice. We also had an analysis project, my paper was about 20 pgs long. You basically analyze your diet and lifestyle and write about the nutrients, vitamins and minerals (abundance/lacking) and what you can do to improve them. There was also a presentation: pick a topic and educate the class. All exams were take home, including the final (I think 4 exams, 1 final). It was based off the textbook. It certainly gave people and opp. to raise their grades, but it was lengthy (around 125 questions) and not all answers were available in the book, and other resources didn't help...had to take the best educated guess. It was hard to sit still for all that time (no break-too much to cover). We were let out early a few times.

Oh, as for the difficulty... it was an easy A, just a boatload of work. I would imagine it would have been a harder if exams were given in class. The only time I used the book was for the analysis project and the exams. I didn't study at all.

Thanks for the info. Your instructor sounds a lot easier than what I've read about Escobar. But I think I've come to the decision today to just wait. I have other summers and winter sessions to take these classes. And if I don't get in to MC then I will also proceed. But $400+ for a month long class that isn't an immediate necessity is quite pricey and I don't think my husband was really too gung ho to shell it out right now. I was never too excited to go back to school over the summer either since I knew how tough nursing was going to be.

Man you all must find me so irritating...complaining and changing my mind all the time. LOL. Thanks for listening and for the suggestions...to everyone who has responded.

Hi girls,

The letter has finally arrived! I've been accepted!!

Waiting anxiously to find out your status!

And Nikki I don't think you've been irritating...just stress out like the rest of us.

Congratulations Kristian!!!!

I didn't get anything today :-( Now I'm freaking out. Did you have to sign for it? What were your scores, grades, etc again? Wondering if I didn't make the cut.

My husband signed for it around 4:00. It was certified. My GPA is 3.80, A & P 1 and 2: A, Micro: A, Gen Bio: C, Nutrition: A, ( I don't think Nut. counts, though). Of course you made the cut! Don't worry, I'm sure your letter will be here tomorrow.

What does your last name start with? Perhaps they are going alphabetically or maybe when the application was received???

Marissa and Andrea - pls post as soon as you've heard! Good luck!

Starts with H. Don't worry, you'll get yours.

I may have been upstairs with my little one putting him down for a nap when the mail came. But if they had come to the door I'm sure they would have left a note. Right???

Ya, I think they are supposed to leave notice, but maybe your carrier didn't?
