Montgomery College, Fall 2011, 1st semester students

Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).

I'm confused about the drug/alcohol test. Are they taking a urine or hair sample? Do all LabCorps do that or just the 2 on the white sheet they gave us: Georgia Ave and Arlington, VA? Can we only go during those drug screen times? I think I'm gonna call the one closest to me and see if they do them.

I'm trying to download all the documents they told us to get off of MyMC but when I go to "My Courses" it doesn't show Fall 2011. It says the last update was in January. But when I go to "View My Class Schedule", it does show that I'm registered for Fall 2011 classes. Why is "My Courses" not updating?? Have any of you been able to download the documents yet?

Hi....I got #45 and ended up at WAH too...Wed all day...classes Mon early afternoon and Fri. Midmorning..no luck getting 3 days in a row and long weekends this semester but will be home mist evenings for my daughters:) just thought Id ask about any advice nursing bags, shoes...you all seem really on top of it all:)

I was under the impression docs wouldn't be up until the first week of class.

Tina, we might have the same classes. Here is my schedule...

NU105 M 10-10:50 (blount)

NU110 M 12-3:50 (alston, mirna ostchega)

NU121 F 10-12:50 (Monique alston, timothy fuss)

Not sure about the Labcorp stuff. I haven't looked at it yet. I am planning to go next week while my oldest is in camp. I can't possibly try to take both kids. I'd lose my mind.

Hi girls, sorry to hear you didn't get your top choices. Andrea, I'm surprised w/ #30, you didn't get your 2nd clinical choice. Perhaps next semester, we'll all have better luck.

I also have NU105 @ 2-2:50 and NU110 @ 4-7:50 on Mon. And we'll see you @ MG.

Andrea, I have the same questions about Labcorp. They did say any Labcorp, but not all locations give drug/alc. test from what I read on their site.

Unfortunately, yes...that's my understanding. Am I wrong?

So during my visit to the vet I asked what scopes they use, and of course, they have Littmans. They have the classic and the cardiology. She personally likes the cardiology cuz it's excellent for hearing heart and lung sounds. And she thinks there is a difference in the quality of sound between the models. For BP, she says a lower end would be fine. Anyway, thought I'd share what she said...

I'd love to get the Cardio III, but I'll let someone get it for me for a graduation gift. I think the Classic II will work just fine for clinicals. As for the BP cuff, I know they now have monitors that read the patient's BP for you, but sometimes those don't work right and they have to do it the old-fashioned way. This is what I want to practice, so I'm glad to know that even the lower end ones will suffice.
