Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).

Marissa,

I'm so glad to hear your sister is in high spirits. She is very fortunate to have such a strong sister like you. I wish you and your sister all the best. Please let me know if I can help in any way. I'll be thinking of you both and hope to see you @ registration.

Marissa, I'm so glad to hear from you! It is definitely a full time job caring for someone with these kinds of health conditions but your sister is extremely lucky to have you around!

Kristian, I'm so happy to hear your cxr results came back negative (even though I knew they would!). And Nikki, you're so lucky that you're done with everything! I called today for my results: Hep B titer isn't back yet (should be in the next couple of days they say); I have immunity for varicella, mumps, and rubella but not for measles!!! So I'm getting the MMR done on Thursday morning. I'm not sure if I should only be gettin one vaccine or what? I'm going to e-mail Dianna Matthews tonight and ask her about that. I'll also double check on the varicella requirements.

Hopefully the Hep B titer will be in by Thursday when I go in for my MMR vaccine so I can take everything to my doctor's office for her to finish filling out my form (they should already have the CBC/UA results from LabCorp but I forgot to call them today to make sure).

I'm still waiting on 5 books (surprised I didn't get anything today) and still haven't bought shoes or anything else. Guess I'm waiting to hear specifics at registration. You girls I think will all go before me; mine is on the 28th. I'm so nervous about this lottery...

Thanks Andrea!

I have the same question about getting 1 or 2 MMR vaccs. Isn't it strange that we have immunity to 2 out of the 3? I also emailed about that, so I'll post the answer when I get a response. Why does it take so long for the Hep B titer? I forgot to ck on it today; when cked last Thu, it wasn't ready. When's your appt? I go back on Thu- 10:15(?).

I'm still waiting for one book, it seems to have been lost in shipping somewhere...it's been a month, might need to find another copy. I'm not that nervous about the lottery. Right now I'm just happy to be able to move forward to the next step.

Marissa - Your sister is so lucky to have a sister as caring as you. I'd like to think my sister would be there for me in a situation like this but I highly doubt it. Your family must be really close. I am glad to hear that her spirits are up as well. I definitely think that will help with the outcome.

Kristian - congrats on being cleared! We both got the news we needed today. As for the Hep B, I think you just need to show documentation that you've started the series of vaccs if you didn't have a positive titer. I think it takes several months to get all 3 plus the positive titer. For the MMR, if you don't have immunity to rubella then you need to get the vaccine again and then show immunity via titer. For the varicella, I'm just going to assume that with the positive titer I don't need anything else.

I got several of my books today. Now I'm just waiting on the Health Assessments book and my medical dictionary. After registration I will get my scrubs and equipment.

As for my husband. He feels fine. Just a cough. But doc said he should be on antibiotics for 2 days and stay home so as not to infect coworkers. I just hope none of us get it. My toddler has lost his appetite and also has a cough. I took him to the doc Sat and he was clear. But after finding out today DH has pneumonia I had my family doc listen to him again and said he sounded clear. Freaks me out when my kids stop eating. Anyhow, I am planning to drop everything off tomorrow since my husband will be home. It will be much easier to go down there if I don't have to bring kids with me.

So are all of going to registration on the 26th?

I'll be there on the 26th...and early too!

My appointment is for Thursday at 10am to get the MMR. I wonder how soon after we've been vaccinated that we can get the titer again? All of this is so long and confusing! I won't be at registration til the 28th cuz my last name starts with a "P". I should've changed it to my husband's last name (which begins with an "I") when I had the chance but that would've been more crap to deal with on top of all this medical stuff lol.

I'm hoping to get there about 1.5 hours before the start of registration.

Nikki, same here.

Andrea, I was told the titer has to be done 4 wks from vaccination. I have another appt. on the 28th. I also emailed D. Matthews about my appt on the 28th since it would be after the deadline.

I've been meaning to take my hubby's name for the past 10 yrs...now that's procrastination! Kinda glad that I haven't yet cuz his name starts with a "W" lol!

Ok, just looked at my labs again and have a question. Doc said I was all clear on MMR but looking at the results report, I can see that it lists that I was tested for measles/mumps/rubella immunity. However, it doesn't show results for measles, only mumps and rubella. WTH????
