Montgomery College, Fall 2011, 1st semester students

Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).

Just got home. I got my physical, the PDD, and the Tdap done. I wanted to go for all my bloodwork today but I guess I having to be fasting for the sugars test so I am going to go in the morning to LabCorp. I go in on Thurs for the PDD reading and have another appointment in a week to get results and my forms (she kept them). I told her they really didn't give us much time to do all of this and she assured me we'd get it all done in time.

I made my doc appt within days of my acceptance letter, and this is when they could fit me in for a full physical. So it isn't like I've wasted time and therefore, if things done come back in time I don't think I should be penalized. I would think as long as everything (except flu) is finalized by the time we start we should be ok.

oh, and since I am going back in a week for my results/follow up, I don't think it should take 2 weeks to get the results back for you guys but maybe since you went to UMD it would since they are probably really busy right now with these requests????

Just left UMD Health Center. Got my PPD, Tdap, and titers. They said no more than 10 business days but probably not even that long. I go back Thursday at 2 to get PPD read. Kristian, how was your test? When do you go back? I heard some girl scream in the lab, kinda got me nervous lol!

Nikki, I'm glad to hear you'll have the results in time. Such a relief that we're so close to having everything done by the due date! :)

Hey girls, got stuck in traffic again.

Good to hear things are going as planned on your side, Nikki.

I got the results of my titers (took 4 days). Positive titers for mumps, measles and varicella. Still had to get MMR vacc cuz of the neg. titer for rubella. Glad I was able to get that done today. And a 2nd dose is required (according to our packet). I don't know why hep. B isn't on here, will need to call about that. Andrea, your results should be ready by Fri. if all goes smoothly.

Andrea, she was very good w/ that needle, I barely felt it. But that MMR vacc was painful! (back of the arm in that sensitive area)

Oh, I go back Thu. @ 11:15. How about you?

To get the results back by Friday would be incredible! My nurse was pretty good with the needles too; and my arm is already a little sore from the Tdap lol (I got it in my left like you suggested!). I go back Thursday at 2:00. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for nothing but good news. That's great that all you needed was the MMR, but weird that you didn't hear anything about the Hep B. Keep us updated on that one. Well, I'm off to finish laundry and getting prepared for Hershey tomorrow! Thank goodness; I could use a little distraction from all this! Talk to you soon ladies :)

Yeah, my arm started to get sore that night. Ice it tonight to reduce the swelling which will prob. happen tomorrow or the next. I'm wondering if there was a mix up and the hep. B titer wasn't done-tried to call them but the automated prompt was malfunctioning and couldn't get through. Will let you know what the deal is...Have a safe and fun mini vacation!!

Did you guys get your PPD read yet? I thought that stung a bit going in. And my left upper arm where the Tdap shot was feels a bit sore now.

Has anyone heard anything from Marissa? I think I am going to shoot her an email and see how she is.

I emailed Marissa last night. She responded this morning. She basically said that her sister's medical care is moving along very quickly and she has been able to get into Hopkins and was given some hope. Marissa is proceeding with everything to start the program this fall but is considering taking a medical leave of absence.

Hey Nikki, thanks for the update w/ Marissa. Glad to hear some good news.

I get mine cked tomorrow. Do you girls have any redness or swelling?

I found out the hep B titer could take a few days longer, which is why mine was not on the report.

My b/g check is cleared- I thought it would take longer...completed less than 3 days.
