Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).
During the physical she just asked me a TON of questions. They checked my weight, height, temp, pulse, BP, vision, and hearing. Then I had to get undressed and she did a once-over of my entire body from head to toe. I have to take the form back to her to fill out my CBC and UA results after getting them done at LabCorp so I'll prob do that on Friday.
LabCorp, I believe, does do titers but check to make sure your insurance covers them cuz I think they can run over $100 apiece otherwise.
I got Stedman's 7th edition medical dictionary; it was published in April 2011 AND it's illustrated (and I like pictures! Lol)
Organic chem is a little more in-depth than regular chem in that it's all about carbon-containing molecules. It really wasn't all that bad. It's alot like math in that there's a right answer and a wrong answer; there's no in-between. But it's a class you really have to keep up with cuz as soon as you fall behind, you're done for. I believe the requirement is Chem 101 or higher (I took Chem 103).
This is the medical dictionary I got. It is a hardcover though, which I prefer. I like to have my dictionaries be able to sit open and I like the glossy pages. I would probably leave this book at home or in my car; not something I would carry around with me. I usually just write down words I don't know and then look them up later. I don't think mine comes with a DVD but it comes with a subscription to their online dictionary which includes everything from the dictionary plus more images, live pronunciations, and videos.
By "once-over" I meant that she checked my eyes, ears, nose, mouth, tonsils, thyroid, listened to my heart, checked for body markings and asked me about about any moles (change in growth, size, color, etc.); she checked the strength/resistance of my arms and legs, and then made sure my elbows, knees, ankles, and wrists rotate correctly. She didn't do a breast or pelvic exam since I just got those done with my gyno about 2 months ago. Oh, and she did some kind of internal exam...you know, where they press all over your stomach to feel for any abnormalities. She is very thorough! I love her being the doctor for all 3 of us (me, hubby, and son) because I know she'll never skip over anything! Lol
Yeah, I thought about that too Kristian. But I want to start a whole nursing book reference section in my "library" so I figured a good medical dictionary would be pretty vital for that. And depending on where you get your information from, the web may not always be the best source. Plus, did I mention I love the pictures?! Lol :)
Oh, and I cleared my background check! YAY! Not that I was worried or anything...lol

I chose Taber's cuz it has the latest publication date of the three, 2010.
