I kept my form and they'll call me when the labs come in so I can bring the form back in to be filled out.

Andrea- that's a good point about starting a library of books, and yes, I love pictures too lol! Good to hear the b/g check is all clear!

Nikki- I kept my form for the follow-up.

Just got back from Lab Corp...my CBC and UA are done. And just by chance, I decided to call UMD Health Center to see if they had any openings for today (since my appt wasn't supposed to be until next week) and they did! So I'm going in at 2:00 for my titers, Tdap, and PPD test. And I've gotten 3 different answers about how long the results take to come in: one person told me 2-3 days; a nurse told me no more than a week; and a doctor told me about 2 weeks. So I'm very confused...but I'm glad I don't have to wait until next Tuesday anymore cuz I probably wouldn't have gotten the results in time.

I had a feeling the answers would be different depending who we spoke w/. I have my PPD there @ 2:30. It was a good idea to get in sooner.

I would think that as long as we are in the process of getting the vaccines done that would be ok. No? I mean, they didn't give us a whole lot of time to get all of this done and knowing that these things take time it wouldn't be fair for them to hold us back. Am I incorrect in my assumption?

I believe you are correct- as long as we have documentation that we are in the process and will have them completed.

I'm not sure Nikki. It sounds like they won't schedule anyone for classes or clinicals unless the required immunizations are done on time. I guess it's especially important for clinical assignments that they know everyone is up-to-date on those things. In the packet we were given upon acceptance, it says in bold letters, "Getting all the required immunizations and/or tests takes time--get your appointment now--Do not wait until the last minute!" But maybe if you e-mail Dianna and explain any complications you're having with getting them on time, she may give you an extension or something.

Maybe if Dianna knows you're waiting for test results to come in, she'll be understanding about it :)

I'll be cutting it rather close too. Two weeks from now will be July 12 and hopefully my titers will be in by then. Then I would only have 6 days to take my form to my doctor to have it finished being filled out; and 6 days to get any required vaccinations. I pray that she won't be on vacation or anything.

After we get vaccinated for something, do we have to get titers again? I thought I remembered her saying something like that during orientation.

Sorry, make that 3 days...not 6!!! OMG now I'm really nervous...

I think the main factor is having all the titers/vacc done before clinicals begin. I would email D. Matthews. It's not like we waited 'till the last minute to make any appts....

Doing titers again after vaccs would also be another one to ask. I think they mean getting titers each yr. Will someone put that in an email to her? I've already emailed her 3 times!
