Montgomery College, Fall 2011, 1st semester students

Published

Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).

Thanks Nikki. I got a copy from textbook.com- certified used (which means in excellent or very good condition-comes w/ CD, DVD... $46.99, free ship, 30 day money back. I got 4 books from their site and one will come from Barnes and Noble (the pocket guide). That's the only one w/ shipping cost-new 26.17, 3.99 for shipping.

Andrea- how many books did you get through Amazon?

I got 9 books altogether. I still wanna get that thing from Barnes & Noble too but I think it's only $5...darn it! I should've ordered it from Amazon just now. Oh well, hopefully the store still has them.

I actually think I saved alot of money. If I had gotten these books from the school bookstore, it would've cost over $600. And I got everything new because I figure I'm going to keep them forever and I don't want anyone else's writing or anything in them (that really distracts me when studying! lol).

That's a great price! I got 6 so far for $228.

Are you ordering from Amazon? There are a few other places that are really cheap but I cant' remember the names of them. If you don't want to keep your books after the semester is over, you should rent them from chegg.com. They're dirt cheap and then you just ship them back at the end of the semester (they include a return shipping label).

$228 sounds great for 6 books! You only need 3 more...

I got 2 from ebay and 4 from textbooks.com. Yeah I've rented books from Chegg before and it worked out great. This time I decided not to rent them 'cuz I wanted to keep them for reference.

I've got my physical tomorrow and then my immunizations next week on the 5th. We changed our Williamsburg plans...now we're going to Hershey Park. It's cheaper and closer and with all this money being spent on nursing school, it's the better choice! Can't wait to think about something other than this stuff all day...at least for a day or two, that is! Lol :)

Are you including the recommended books in the count? There are 6 required, plus the ATI stuff, correct?

Yes. There are 6 required books plus the ATI...then there's the APA reference book (not sure why we'd need that unless we'll be writing papers that will need citations or something), the medical dictionary, and the Test Success-Test Taking Techniques for Beginning Nursing Students book. Those are all recommended though, I believe.

I'm still debating on getting those. I'm asking myself- will we really need them and can they be looked up somewhere on-line?

I hope you guys have a great time @ Hershey Park!
