Montgomery College, Fall 2011, 1st semester students

U.S.A. Maryland

Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).

5th grade (younger though...summer) and K (fall)....kinda nervous for my smallest:)

How hard is ATI....hoping to do that tonite?

It isn't too bad. You take a pretest. Then go through the module which is mostly about a repeat of hand hygiene and some isolation information. Then you take a post test. You can take it twice. They are the exact same test each time, no variation. There were 11 questions.

My mom just came home with all of the documents I asked her to print. It is A LOT of reading! The clinical packet I got is called the Montgomery General Hospital 2011 Annual Mandatory Education Self Study Program. So Nikki, you and Kristian should be getting one also since you are also doing clinical at MGH. Tina, where is your clinical? Maybe your location won't have this (or maybe they will)?? We have to do a test on the information in the packet too :(

That ATI module was a major pain in the butt... I had navigation issues, nothing displayed in the left column on the lesson page, couldn't click on anything for the lesson...changed PCs from windows XP to windows 7 and then had other issues...text kept bunching up when scrolling on a page. And as I was taking the postest, I was having issues marking my answers. Man, glad that's over now! BTW Nikki, I did horribly on the pretest too.

We have more to do? Why are we getting all this material only a few days before classes?! I'm concerned I won't have access to any online stuff when the storm hits...

If you guys haven't gotten an email from your clinical instructor by now, then you probably won't get one. I would imagine everyone's gone home for the weekend. Unless they plan on emailing it from home...

I wonder why you had so many issues with it Kristian? I have Windows 7 on my laptop and Windows XP on my PC and didn't have any trouble...except for finding where to print the certificate, which I still haven't done. I'm gonna have to search back to earlier this week when Nikki explained how to find it.

My clinical is Washington Adventist....bad lottery draw:)but luckily just down the street:)...got my scrubs and cute Minnie Mouse nurse watch:)

Well I am done! I finished the chapter review for 19. Didn't do all the great. I was rushing after half way through it cause of the kids, my SIL and my husband. They were trying to plan a last minute dinner outing. I will have to go back and review to better understand why I missed things.

Hopefully I will be able to work on my notes over the weekend.

I've heard great things about Washington Adventist Tina! It's supposed to be a really good hospital. The only thing I don't like about it, is its location...not exactly in the safest of neighborhoods. But I suppose alot of good hospitals are like that...Johns Hopkins, UMMC, etc.

Crap. More stuff was posted for 105. Hopefully it isn't much because my printer at home doesn't have much ink left in it.

YAY!!! Good job Nikki! :)

I have gotten almost NOTHING school-related done today. Errands this morning, then went bike riding with Dominic after lunch, then did half of 17, and finally had to prepare dinner. Hoping to finish the rest of 17, 18, and 19 after dinner since my hubby doesn't work tonight and he's off all next week! :)

It's starting to look like Irene will just barely graze past the DC metro area. You guys out in Rockville/Gaithersburg/Germantown probably won't get much. Silver Spring (where I am) may get a little something, depending on the wind, but luckily we don't seem to be getting the bulk of it. A friend of mine lives on the Eastern shore so she and her family are being told to evacuate. She's stuck in hideous traffic near the bay bridge, so as much of a beach bum as I am I'm glad I don't live near one right now!

Woo hoo Nikki!

I think I need to install a newer version of adobe acrobat...well at least that's what the tech guy at ATI suggests. I'll have my geeky hubby help me figure it out.

Tina, I'm sure that watch is really cute. :)

It would be nice to be able to run some more errands tomorrow, like getting the uniforms. I hope the storm doesn't affect us too much.

Oh, Andrea, what test are they talking about in the clinical packet?

Forgot to mention...when you go to the ATI tutorial tab, you'll see an icon to the right of the infection module to print a certificate.
