Montefiore School of Nursing Spring 2020

U.S.A. New York

Updated:   Published

Hello all!

I know it's early to make this thread but I wanted to see who else is planning to apply to this program.

The first open house is in February. Anybody else going?

Hello, future nurses. I am planning on applying for the evening/weekend program in Spring 2020. Currently, I am wrapping up my Bachelors Degree in Economics and I have some credits that are transferrable to this program. However, I have not taken A&P 1. How will this affect my application if I choose not to take it?

Any other tips and advices would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t know how much it will affect your application but it is a required course! I have heard of people missing a few of the pre reqs and they still got into the program.

You do not need to have all the pre-reqs completed to get accepted. However, it is a required course that you need to take whether it is prior to nursing school or during (co-requisite). If you decide to take any of the pre-reqs while in nursing school, then you are mandated to take it at the college of their choice (Westchester CC). Also, failing a pre-req is held to the same standard as failing a nursing course.

I would recommend you to take courses you may need over the summer or fall (before January 2020) so that way you will have the freedom to pick where you would like to take it etc

Thank you both. This is really helpful information. Do you know how competitive this program is or what the applicant pool is and how many applicants get accepted for the Spring? I am considering applying to just Montefiore but do you know of any other schools that offer an RN evening/weekend program?

Thank you all!

Hi Guys!

During the open house in February, they said they receive hundreds of applications and only accept 40 applicants.

I believe Cochran and BMCC offer an evening/weekend program. Not too sure of others

Yes, they do. However, your completed nursing courses from a previous nursing program does not transfer. If you failed a nursing program, then it's a 2 year waiting period before applying according to their website.

What would you guys say is the primary determining factor for acceptance to this school?

From previous cohort threads, I would assume the Kaplan exam
