Hello all!
I know it's early to make this thread but I wanted to see who else is planning to apply to this program.
The first open house is in February. Anybody else going?

I’m not leaving, at least for now lol. I wanna hear about everyone’s Kaplan experience. I’ll also come back in November when you all get your acceptance emails! :) Thanks so much!!!
btw, I’ve decided to sell my N1 lecture (fundamentals) and lab book. Hopefully it doesn’t come back to bite me for when I take the NCLEX lol. Anyway, the books have a lot of highlighting but are otherwise in good condition. If anyone is interested, dm me, or else they’re going on eBay tonight lol
I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve helped me through so far you were the first onee loll. Will definitely never forget this thread and fingers crossed if I get in I don’t think I can ever forget the journey I’ve been on to get this far, this is the furthest I’ve ever gotten and I won’t let anything stop me. Acceptance letter or not I’m still going hard no matter which way. But Brooklyn_nursing26 and pediatricnursing you 2 have been helping me through anxiety since the beginning and everyone else thank you guys so much !!! ??

Love it!!! It’s all about perseverance. They say when one door closes, a window opens and that’s true but I also believe that sometimes when a door closes, you gotta kick it down to get what you want ?. When I started this journey my first class was chemistry and I had a C- avg by midterms and dropped it. A few people told me to quit this nursing idea and my rebellious self said quit, what’s that? I got mad at myself for being in that position and paying twice (almost $3K) for a class and I said never again. I took chem the following semester and my lowest exam grade that semester was a 95. My point to you guys is to be resourceful, creative, and find a way no matter how big the obstacles may seem. And if it seems like doors keep closing on you and this doesn’t seem like it’s meant to be for you, attack harder and start kicking those doors down. Get after it and don’t let anyone talk you out of your dreams and goals.

You are indeed an inspiration. I will definitely follow my dream of becoming a nurse. I struggled through prerequisites but if I got this far, with God's help, I am able to to complete this task. I wish everyone the same.
Yasssss I love it your so right!!! Your a real inspiration, I’ve been kicking those doors and a few of them came right back in my face with the same force I kicked them with but dusted the shoulders off picked my head back up and kept nagging it till it opened back up. Your right if it’s a dream and goal nothings gunna get in any of our ways, the school of nursing is a school of family it seems, picking up all the ones that get kicked down and vice versa when the tables are turned I hope we get in and get to pass each other and meet each other !!!!!!!

You made it here, that’s all that matters. Now, on to the next step. ?

Two weeks into the semester? Wow. I'm assuming the main difference between accelerated and traditional programs is one having summer breaks and the other one doesn't?
I know this is jumping ahead and I don't want to take away your focus from the Kaplan but I thought it'd be important for you guys to keep this in mind so it doesn't come as a shock. I would suggest to have about $1000 saved for school because you'll be spending roughly that before you even walk through the door lol
Here are the expenses that I remember but I'm sure there's other small ones I forgot:
Books: $200-$400+
Monte deposit: $200
Uniforms: $53.97
Drug screening/background check: $155
Stethoscope: $80
Also, definitely don't get cheap with stethoscopes. I know there's some out there that are like $30 but I spoke with many nurses and they all recommended a Littman stethoscope. It's a good investment since you'll use it for a long time during your career as well. Lastly, keep it attached to your hip at all times because stethoscopes tend to "grow legs" during nursing school (and even hospitals) if you catch my drift smh lol
