Montefiore School of Nursing spring 2019

Published

Greetings, I just finish applying to Montefiore School Nursing for the Spring 2019. Is there any one else also looking to attend in 2019? I'd love to hear from you.

Cochran. That's the only one I applied to because they accept pre-reqs up to 10 years compared to MSON. Are you from Brooklyn? I will be coming from Brooklyn. Hope you all get your answers from MSON soon. Praying for you all!

Awesome. I heard that Cochran is a little more lenient than Monte. Yup, I'm coming from Downtown Brooklyn.

I really hope we all get accepted. You guys seem like a good crowd to be around. Especially in stressful situations that I'm sure we will have plenty of.

I have a few friends who are nurses and they told me a lot of people exaggerate about nursing school. Yes it's challenging and you have to put in a lot of work but they said a lot of it is common sense. I'm sure that we'll be fine especially since we made it this far. Everyone here seems very passionate and dedicated to this which I think is awesome. My most challenging class was AP 1 especially the nervous and muscular systems. Hardest A I ever received and my head was going to explode at the end lol So, for me, if I was able to get past that then I feel good about my chances lol

MSON is giving me high blood pressure...can you die of anxiety if so I'm on life support ....

Okay!!...

I'm still praying and hoping that today is the day we find out!!!!!

They will probably blame the snow

You guys would be an awesome study group! Praying for all of us

I went to the information session. It was informative they talked about financial aid and class schedules.

I don't remember the amount of questions for each section , you can google it. I would suggest using Kaplan to study

Thank you so much!!

I know their website stated classes would generally run around 6PM, but did they mention anything about how important it is to attend classes on time for people who work full time (9-5)?

they actually said it was advisable not to work but that they understand people who do have responsibilities. I also work full time, I had my schedule changed from 9 to 5 to 830 to 430 so that I will have time to get to school. Im sure it very important to attend on time .

I was in a BSN program last year and I think I can chip in a bit on this subject

Nursing school is common sense for some people, but not all. Some classes will click to you easily and some classes will be a grind to understand. Actually learning the information and understanding what you are being taught is not bad at all. The true difficulty is applying your knowledge on answering the questions for exams. You will literally have 4 answer choices that could all be the right answer, but one answer is "more right" than the others. They purposely make their exams that way to prepare you for the NCLEX. I'm sure you know this already, but NCLEX rates are very important for nursing schools. Passing an exam or the NCLEX does not mean you will be a great nurse, however the algorithm for nursing school is building qualified candidates who will pass the NCLEX on their first try. This is why some programs will weed out as many students who are failing, even though they could potentially be some of the best nurses if given another chance.

If you grasp A&P really well, then a lot of topics will make a lot of sense to you. I know all of you guys are going to do well in the program because you're all determined, but please do not expect anything to be a walk in the park. Nursing school will humble you!! It definitely humbled me after failing a class, but I learned from my mistakes and I am willing to give it another shot.

I wonder why they would advise people not to work if they purposely have a Day & Evening section. I would assume the evening section was created for people with families and those who work full time.

Will class be everyday of the week? I also work full time.

I also considered doing an Accelerated BSN program but one of my hospital Nursing Directors talked me out of it. He tried it and then dropped out a few months into it. He said you're just signing up for double the torture lol I'm sure many people excel in the accelerated programs but I'd rather take a little more time so I don't have double the stress. In any event, I commend you tremendously for not giving up on your goal! That's truly admirable and I'm sure you'll get there!
