Greetings, I just finish applying to Montefiore School Nursing for the Spring 2019. Is there any one else also looking to attend in 2019? I'd love to hear from you.

My pleasure! I'm not selling my clinical book just yet because one of my friends may need it but am not sure. To be frank, I was too cheap to spend all that money on the bundle of books lol I think it's $400-$500 or something like that. I only bought three books for lecture (and 1 for lab) and that's all I needed. The lecture book I bought brand new because you need the access code which I found helpful to do practice problems. You don't need an access code for the Pharmacology book so I bought that one used. Here are the books I used:

LECTURE:

1) Fundamentals of Nursing: The Art and Science of Person-Centered Care 9th Edition (new)

2) RNotes: Nurse's Clinical Pocket Guide 5th Edition (new)

3) Pharmacology and the Nursing Process 8th Edition (used)

LAB:

1) Skill Checklists for Taylor's Clinical Nursing Skills (I bought the 4th edition used because it was a lot cheaper even though our class used 5th edition. The books are essentially the same minus a small difference here and there).

You are heaven sent Forreal! Lol how about the calculating dosages safely book?

Thanks lol. So, I'll say this in the most humble way I can lol Yes I did buy the calculating dosage book but it was a waste of money for me as I'm very good at math and also took a dosage class at another school before I started at Monte so I didn't need the book. I opened the book once and now it's at the bottom of my closet some where lol. I'm not sure how proficient you are at math but if you're going to buy the book I would say get a cheap used version on eBay. There's only one math exam per semester. For N1-N3 classes, you need a 90% on the math exam to pass (and continue with the semester) and I was told that you need a 100% on the N4 math exam to pass that semester.

Hey can anyone tell me what to expect for the first Dosages exam and what book would be helpful to study from ?

Here's the book we used:

Calculating Dosages Safely: A Dimensional Analysis Approach, F.A. Davis Company, ISBN: 978-0-8036-4459-5, Horntvedt, T. (2015)

I'm not sure how proficient you are at math but if you're going to buy this book I would suggest getting a cheap used copy on eBay. No sense in wasting a lot of money on this book. I also attached a sheet we had to memorize for our math exam as well as a sample question.

Last semester it was Tue-Thur evenings, 6-9:30/10pm. Saturdays are clinicals from 6:45am - 4pm and yes, every Saturday.

Thank you for this info. But, where are clinicals held?

At one of the Montefiore Hospitals. The class will be split up into groups for clínicals and each group will go to a different hospital. It’ll be either Moses, Weiler, Mt. Vernon Hospital, or New Rochelle Hospital.
