Hello Guys! Figured I'd start a new thread on Montefiore SON for Spring 2016 since I haven't been able to find one. Anyone out there in the process of Applying to their nursing program? I called them yesterday and was told they will be sending out Exam invitations soon. Where are you in your process??
Not sure if this comment was for me, but if it was I studied the Kaplan Book that they recommended but personally the book is crap.
For the reading section- there is no studying for that
The math- you have to know basic - percentages, ratio and fractions( multiply, adding)
For the grammar section you have to know what are and the correct usage of nouns, verbs, adjectives. Sentence placement and so forth.
The science is A&P1 - it is NOT system and functions
Thats all I can really help you with, hope it helps.
Congratulations to those who received acceptance and DON'T GIVE Up...ever!, to those that didn't!!! I myself am a student at MSON, currently in N4 (the last semester) scheduled to graduate in 6 days. The advise I have is to study hard, your going to be pushed mentally, physically & emotionally HARDER than you've ever been...please take heed to what I just stated. If you give it your ALL, and think positive, you WILL make it. I don't care if you failed or barely passed a unit exam or two...it has passed, don't keep looking back pondering, move on and aim to do better, above and beyond moving fwd.
Please for the love of God: PURCHASE SAUNDERS NCLEX-RN STUDY GUIDE (the yellow 5th edition or the latest purple 6th edition) It helped me tremendously through RN school, especially for unit exams. It gives you the meat & potatoes (s & s, nursing interventions) of what's important w/o all the fluff.
You may not always walk w/ confidence and its understandable because if anything RN school is going to PUSH you, doesn't matter the obstacle-train your being and mind to KNOW that you will & can make it. All the best to you future RN's...What sustained me was prayer & confidence. If I can do it: working f/t, commuting from far, with a family, crack of dawn risings for Saturday clinicals, having to study day in & day out...SO CAN YOU! No EXCUSES!
You have any questions, feel free to PM me.
Congrats to all that's been accepted! To those who haven't, don't fret n keep on trying! B ready to sacrifice sleep n social life for the next 2 yrs.
I just finished nsg3 n looking forward to nsg4.
I've heard that the curriculum has gotten harder since i started 2014, but nothing is impossible.
