This was an opportunity to use your oh so superior skills to provide useful feedback or use your judgement and keep it moving. You were ambivalent just last year about whether you would be prepared following orientation to a new specialty but OP and other new grads are spoiled because they expect a proper orientation to a completely new career? Why did you need orientation at all, Super Nurse? I think what we're seeing from Wandrlust is an older nurse who is taking out her frustration on a baby nurse...we are now eating our young on the internet *sigh*

My school doesn't have anything like that, unfortunately. I have been searching night and day and applying to anything that is a possibility. I tweak my cover letter depending on the position. I received a few calls this morning but I am still trying to go about this in the best way possible. The calls have resulted in two agencies offering LTC positions-which isn't great but is a foot in the door which is a blessing here in NYC

Would you mind sharing any tips on places to apply. I am worried that without a Bsn and no nursing experience I won't find anything. I have applied to over 300 postings over the past week and I am preparing myself in case I don't hear back.

The day schedule is 3 days per week: 1 day of lecture and another with lecture and lab, and 1 day of clinical. Lab is taught in 2 sections one from 8-10am before lecture and the other from 1-3 which is after lecture. Clinical was on Wednesday during nursing 1&2 from 7-4 then it was broken up into two groups of either Monday or Wednesday for nursing 3, and on Monday for Nursing 4. In terms of your individual experience each semester that will vary. Nursing 1 was exciting for me and it was amazing having a nurturing professor who was tough but fair. Nursing two was a nightmare for me not because of the material but because of the learning environment; this is said to be the real test in terms of material but I can assure you it is not. Nursing 3 was a breeze even though we had a new psych instructor which made for a strange mood haha. Nursing 4 is the real test getting here without failing any classes is difficult but getting through it will be even harder. The professor is amazing but writes her own exams which are unlike anything you've ever seen. Clinical was fine. They implemented a new rule that resulted in some people getting preceptorships while others did regular clinical all semester, yes people who had failed and were repeating the class got preceptoships while people who had never failed a class did not because you only get a preceptorship if you're passing after two tests. Overall, I would say to only go here if you have no other options as some instructors/staff can be very unprofessional and they change things at random that majorly affect students with very little consideration for students. It just isn't worth the nonsense that often occurs if you have other options. That being said I went, learned a lot and graduated so if you do end up here just work hard and make sure you fight for what you know you deserve as a student. You will get a solid nursing education, shed some tears, be incredulous at times at the way some things work, maybe make some friends, and in the end you will get your degree if you work hard. That's my honest review by others had very different experiences.

Epogen shouldn't be given if you have uncontrolled HTN. Pts BP will understandably be high before HD especially since lots of times BP meds are held until after HD.

I assume this is for me...if not a little more insight won't hurt haha. I'm looking back now on the late night that I sat up taking a break from working on finals for my last semester for my BA degree and found this school online and I must say the time just flew by! I got an 85 on the entrance exam and I remember waiting so anxiously for a decision and how happy I was to get in. Nursing 1 is a major learning curve but a smooth ride of you study hard;you'll lose a few classmates here but Nursing 2 is the true test and where you'll really see the class shrink in size. Nursing 3 has been interesting,we're, at this point,used to learning 25 chapters of information in two weeks at this point. I think Nursing 4 will be quite a lot like Nursing 2 but with hard work we can do it! Hope for the best, apply to more than one school,and get ready to WORK!We can do this, guys :)

I have no idea if you'll see this because this post is old but I'm in the exact same situation and would like to know what you ended up doing. I got a BA in Sociology last year and I'll be graduating in May from an ADN program.

They usually accept around 35 but it can be more my class was 38 when we started :)
