Monitoring Advice?

Nurses Recovery

Published

Hello all,

Was hoping for some advice, especially if any of you have dealt with Indiana's new monitoring program (INPRP). I self-reported, and very much assumed I would get the minimal requirements (3 years of UDS, meetings, and all those quarterly reports, etc), based on the fact that I did self-report and that I did so early... meaning I had no previous issues, and had very short-term use history. Basically I was in a bad situation at work, and chose to handle it in the wrong way. So, as much as I hate some aspects of it, I accept that there are consequences. Having said all of that, I was shocked when I got the contract via email yesterday and stipulations included a year narcotic restriction (as opposed to 6 months), and, even worse, 5 years, instead of 3!? I even did a hair test (I assume to prove my use, or lack thereof, though they didn't come right out and say that). Unfortunately, INPRP is new this year, and replaced ISNAP, so I've no idea if this is their M.O., or what. The case manager whom I met with left me with the feeling that they truly try to help you, yet that has definitely NOT been my experience so far. She didn't even provide any explanation with the contract. So, my question is, has anyone else tried consulting an attorney at this point? I'm not sure that I have any recourse, but my only thought is to speak with a nurse attorney. Any thoughts regarding this, or advice in general regarding this whole crappy process, is much appreciated!

Not much advice, but wow, 5 years! that sucks! I'm thankful that I signed my contract last year with ISNAP and that INPRP is abiding by the RMA's we already had.

and a hair test? I bet that cost a pretty penny!

Hopefully others can give you some good advice but good luck to you!

I am also in INPRP, started this year when it was still ISNAP. Similar to you, this was my first offense, short history, messed up, wrong choices. I got the standard 3 years. If they have gone to 5 years across the board...oh my!! Do you have an EAP rep at work that can help you through this? I was fortunate in that even though I diverted from work, I did everything asked of me and I am still employed by the company. My EAP rep is phenomenal and I would not of made it without her! The case managers at INPRP say that they are there to advocate for you but I disagree. I feel like I have had to figure everything out on my own. Unfortunately I had a criminal case brought against me by the state. Even though I didn't get fired, they are required to report to Attorney General and DEA and the DEA case is what brought charges. I sought out advice from my case manager and got an email response "keep me updated and let me know what happens" What??!! I asked for guidance...I'm sorry they don't give two sh!ts! At least in a personal level...all they care about is making sure you follow the program to a T. My advice would be to seek out EAP or a counselor that has dealt with our situations and try to maneuver through all the BS.

Hey everyone. Looks like we are all in Indiana...have you all been going to any support groups? the list on the affinity website is a joke lol. I have found half of them are no longer meeting. Let me know if there are any good ones near Indy. Also, have you been to any facilitated groups? I want to go to the Franciscan one but that was were I worked and was fired so idk. Im wondering what the benefit of having a facilitator is and if it costs money? If any of you know let me know. Thanks!

The only support group I found was the one at Methodist and didn’t care for it. I haven’t found any facilitated groups yet. The one at Franciscan is no longer, it stopped a year or two ago. I know they want to get it going again but just don’t know when they will.

Im going to try the methodist group again tomorrow but i didnt care for it either but ill give it another shot. Good to know they dont have the Franciscan group. Lol they really should make an updated list.
