where does the money go??????

Published

As i was writing my check for $60 to renew my nursing license, i got to thinking, there are over 1million nurses in the united states. This $60 is every 2 years, so that means that every year it costs $30. That adds up to 30 million dollars every year, can someone please tell me where does 30 million dollars a year go, or did i pick the wrong area of nursing. JUST A THOUGHT.....

If we all chipped in $100 a year, we could buy a hospital and show them how we would run it.

Now there is an idea :rotfl:

my guess is the lobbyists use it to make the politicians fat. :chuckle

I have a feeling that this is probably the reality of it all. As the lobbyists push to get nursing to be called a "profession", they the politicians turn around and say OK, institutions dont have to pay overtime. So as I see it "OUR" 30 million dollars a year almost got our overtime taken away. As far as I am concerned they can call nursing a profession, a job, a career, or whatever they want, the care for my patients will not be any different, but DO NOT take away my overtime. The lobbyists could use a punch in the mouth. THEY SHOULD PAY US $30 DOLLARS A YEAR TO BE A NURSE, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

$60 every two years is cheap, ours will be $90/year starting this year. The fees collected in our state and probably yours as well go to funding the state board of nursing. Lot of lawyer fees.

Specializes in RN, BSN, CHDN.

Lawyer fees for what??? Hospitals have their own lawyers. I am pretty sure the little piece of paper they send with my nursing license number on it doesnt cost $30 a year. As I said originally, im in the wrong field of nursing.

A question was asked and I answered it. That's where the majority of the money spent for your liscense is spent. The state board of nursing has employees as well as members that are paid to attend meetings. Lawyer fees are paid from this as well. Your state board of nursing more than likely has lawyers on retainer.
