Good morning!
Joe, hope you have a good work week. I like the Peanuts.
Ado, ouch to your son. Enjoy the VIP thing tonight.
I'm going for my booster today and the gym afterwards. I have a recipe for a Persian lentil soup with barley and rice that I hope to make. It's topped with caramelized onions which I've seen in Egyptian recipes before, but this one also calls for mint in the caramelization. The store was out of fresh mint and being a recipe purist I must have it. Although I think I have some dried.
Bowling tonight.
"Allo~
Sunny, upper 60's, low 70's. No rain predicted for at least a week, but as usual, Nannie hears the National weather report and thinks WE are the ones who should be expecting rain and/or snow. Geography. especially now, is not her strength! It means nothing to her, saying that the storms are in the Northwest and Central USA, which is THOUSANDS of miles away from us! Oh well; all we can do when she asks "Is it raining?" is to point at the sunshine streaming through the back door and window.
Hubby has come up with the idea of getting the portable potty from the shed, and cleaning it up to put at her bedside. He is trying to help keep me from having to do her laundry and re-making her bed every day or every other day. Well, good idea except she probably won't use it, or even remember it's there. I can see her getting it confused with her walker (rollator) and trying to steer it across the bedroom to the bathroom. Besides, she says she doesn't realize when she has to pee, and can't tell if she is or has been peeing and is wet. I have to mop up the pee off the floor when she gets up from her bed. OY! So when she is pulling her pants down while walking toward the toilet, I keep telling her, "Don't pull your pants down until you are standing right there, and are ready to sit down." In other words, she'd need more care and direction to use the potty correctly. But I reckon we'll have to try it and see, so hubby will see what I am talking about when I say I don't think it will work well for her at all.
Time to switch laundry loads. Hubby will be back w/ our supper pretty soon.
When I went to the eye-doc's office, the woman there adjusted the frames of the new glasses so the bottom of the lenses don't rest on my cheeks. I showed her how the thumbprint trifocals cut off my visual fields on both sides of the thumbprints of each lens., so she is ordering me new lenses with the trifocal lines going all the way across the entire lens. Then I won't have to turn my head to read an entire sentence! YAY! She said that since they are trifocals they may take a little longer to come back, but I don't care.
I told hubby my reservations about the bedside commode, and he didn't make a peep. He said, "Whatever you think will work the best." (huh!)
He is already "dreading" the PCP's appt on Wednesday. But, s'got to be done, especially since he skipped out on the gastro-guy's appt. last month. I've written some questions to ask the doc. Hubby may have to go have that jp catheter/drain inserted, as we think his left pleura is filling up again. At his previous appt he'd seen a female doc: He asked her where all that fluid could be coming from, isn't it something they can stitch up or repair? She said the fluid was coming from his liver, and said it was cirrhosis causing it. His doc needs to re-explain more about his serious diagnoses to make an impression on him. smh.
I had been planning to have the Covid booster and the flu shot at the same time, but I started thinking...I haven't had either brand of the two vaccines they are using ( had J&J's for the first 3 injections) so, I don't know if I'd suffer any side-effects from getting two shots on the same day. I don't generally suffer any side effects from any vaccination, but I can't afford to have a day to rest if the two shots 'fought' with each other. I will get the flu shot next week.
Got the kitchen curtains washed and fabric for "new" curtains washed/softened. I will need to sew some new curtains, for the four windows in the kitchen that need them. That's the next project. But at least the curtains that are up are clean. Didn't say they weren't stained, but they're clean. ? ?
Sat nite I cleaned out part of the kitchen, got rid of outdated "stuff."
OK, time to practice music with dh. It's his day to practice on the banjo, so I need to provide the rhythm guitar. Later y'all!
Hi. Got my bone scan today, and stopped to pickup bread and eggs. Did a quick run, then cleaned up the kitchen, did some laundry, got sucked into Netflix with a snoring dog in my lap. Tomorrow, I have a Zoom appointment with the state retirement people, to figure out when I will have enough hours accrued to retire. Weather has be shower-y and intermittently sunny, in the 50s.
The VIP open house went well. There's one for the public Friday afternoon. I'm in the midst of quarterly CMS reporting but made good progress today.
Sounds as if BIL will be having the CABG but not sure when yet. Today was his 66th bday. My dad was 67 when he had an aortic valve replacement but I thought of him as so much older than I do BIL. Perspective.
It has rained on and off all day. We definitely need it. My facebook memories showed that a year ago yesterday we were sailing. Now the water level is very low and we probably couldn't manage to launch the boat.
