Dianah glad you're feeling better

Stars I do that too, see what I can make from what I have

NJ22 here's  hoping for some rain

Tweety it's understandable that it would be kind of a depressing trip

My trip overall went well, very glad I went.  Visited with my aunt and cousin, went on a nature hike that went on far longer than anticipated, and then made dinner at her home.

Hotel was nice, could see the sunrise over the fields in the morning.  For some reason didn't sleep as well as I normally do.

Definitely want to return again,  maybe not next year but the year after.  Don't want to wait another 7 or 8 years, given that my aunt is 88

Drive home wasn't too bad, though kinda tired at the end.  Came home and did laundry and cooking and ran errands.  Was even more tired by the end of the day

This trip has made me realize that I am on the verge of burnout, if not already there.  I need to make changes in the way I approach work, church,  and my political involvement.  Much to think about, though I have to make sure action follows thinking

Today will be an easier day, thankfully I have this day off too.  Will go to the arboretum and out to lunch, might run an errand or two.

Will get up to the low 70s today

Welcome .

Will briefly visitneither the family as mom has a doctor's appointment.  Much to process, new and old.  Flying out this evening.

I just had an incredibly lazy weekend and didn't even look at my phone much.

Stars, I am disappointed that Al-Anon isn't offering a place/time to vent. I really thought that we part of what they offered.

Tweety, I'm sorry your trip was disappointing. I'm sure it was still important to you and to them. Good luck figuring out next steps.

Hey to everyone else!

Had a headache all weekend and still do. Probably muscle tension. Did meet with my book club Saturday evening. We did a potluck and I took a Mexican street corn salad. We made fun plans for the rest of the year. The football game Saturday was terrible but I watched most of it. We celebrated our dog Darby's 14th birthday. Hubs went to the lake both days and left me to Gma-sit. He said as he was leaving Saturday "make sure Mom goes to the bathroom every 45 minutes or so". Uh, no. These days when he takes her to the bathroom I hear him having to tell her to pull her pants down. She says "pull my pants down?" He says yes. Then he tells her to pull her underwear down. "What's underwear?" or "I'm not wearing any underwear". He hands her toilet paper and reminds her to wipe her bottom. If the Depends have to be changed, that's another round of commands and questions and worries about why he's taking her shoes off. So, I'm willing to go through that once or twice during the course of the afternoon but certainly not every 45 minutes. He says "well then you can clean up when she soaks through her clothes". Which didn't happen.

Did the meal planning and grocery shopping Sunday. And started laundry.

Twin B got texts from his high school band's brass section. They all want to meet in Indianapolis Nov 5 to watch the state finals. This is 10 years since they were seniors. They won the state championship every year they were in high school. 5 years for some of them, who marched in 8th grade. Twin B only had 3 of those years because he didn't march in 8th grade and I dragged him to Oklahoma his senior year. I really want Twin B to be able to go, but it's not a great time to try to come up with airfare. And the bus and the train are not much cheaper. We'll figure it out somehow. He really needs to get a job but for some reason thinks it's optional until he can find the exact job he wants? I don't know.

Stepson is home. He's agreeable to his sister being a guardian. She was saying yesterday she thought she'd take him back to her house because she doesn't think he should be alone. He left a burner on after making tea and she discovered it when getting ready for bed. I mailed a check to pay for 3 months of house payments. Next is his health insurance at 339/month. Don't know about his car payments or reinstating his car insurance. He reportedly spent about 2000 on clothes during his manic phase and bought a $3700 garden tractor. Which stepdaughter said this morning he used to pay a landscaping guy who had done some work for him and was demanding to be paid. In the conversations with stepdaughter, niece, and nephew's wife, I made a comment about how my money was going fast. Nephew's wife replied with an angry emoji.

Sigh.

Meanwhile, at work: a few people have been nagging me about having to wear masks at the hospital. I posted on my door a letter from the Oklahoma Hospital Association explaining the latest CDC guidance which allows hospitals to choose not to require masks if the community transmission level is not high. Ours has been high for months. Then my boss forwarded an email to me that the HR manager (remember, she's all about accountability?) wrote saying that since the level was low we would be able to forgo masking. Then she corrected herself when she realized she was looking at the wrong map and said she'd check it every week. The boss was looking for input from Infection Prevention. I mean, either it's my bailiwick or it isn't? Am I wrong? Anywho, today we are only "substantial" so according to the CDC we can choose not to require masks so my first communication this morning was asking if we had the all-clear to skip masks. Oy.

Sorry for the brain dump.

Good morning all.

Ado, it's OK, it all has to be processed.  Good that stepson is home, hope he gets a handle on his life.  That's cool, about the OK championships (I assume it was marching band?)!

Tweety, silly me, I forgot about your travel plans.  Sorry it is such a downer.  Hope you and sis can figure out some additional assistance for your parents.  Yah, it wasn't one of those nice-to-visit-you trips.  ?

Joe, do you think the trip helped somewhat with the burnout?  Sounds like it, at least, helped recognize the situation.

Not many plans for today, just go to the grocery store.

Have a good day!

Afternoon!

Hubby went to pharmacy. (He asked me if I was planning on going out, but I said I wasn't. Just got Nannie up at 2:20 PM while he was gone. The bed wasn't wet. YAY! She had gotten up earlier and made the bed and lay down again with a throw over her. Helped her get dressed after which she got in her recliner, and I gave her the sandwich hubby had gone out to get earlier.

When he came home from the pharmacy he said they told him his meds weren't ready yet. Then when he was about 1/2 mile from the house, they called him and said the meds were ready. He didn't turn around and go back, though. Don't know if what is waiting for him there is crucial or not, but I don't plan on driving over there myself.

Hubby said he slept well, after he took Charcoal for his gas and bloating, and then took a couple of Ibuprofen....though I've told him time and again to not take charcoal and meds at the same time. Oh well, whatcha gonna do.

Joe, I understand the burn-out, for sure. You have a lot of things cooking on the burners. I don't think I could maintain that for any length of time.

Tweety, Hope you can decompress from your trip; it had to have been tough.

Ado, Don't worry about the "brain-dump"; you know *I* do it alllll the time, so I completely get the need! I have to say, I don't think I could deal with the # of family members you do. Us three, here, are PLENTY enough for me!

Hello, dianah. Enjoy your grocery shopping.? Yeah, whoopsie-do, huh?! I may have plenty to do, but I ain't a-gonna do it!

Except we have to figure what to do about supper. BLAH! Hate thinking about food/supper!

No ballgames until tomorrow evening, as the Wild-Card teams have been playing, and the Braves aren't one of those teams.

Reckon that's all for now--------

Hi.

Tweety, I'm sorry your trip was not great. It must have been a shock to see the decline in your mother. I hope help can be found.

Ado, you have a lot going on!

I have been doing 2 steps forward and one step back, all day. I lost my debit card. I could replace it at the bank, but they are closed for Indigenous Peoples Day. I picked up my new glasses but they were too busy to adjust them for me. I got my new computer cord. I stopped at Costco, but it is Canadian Thanksgiving today, and a part of their traditional celebration is to shop at a US Costco. I had to circle to parking lot to find a spot. Dh finally took his stuff to turn into the place that was going to help us with his Medicare, but they guy we talked to left the business and they have no record of what we discussed. So I guess we will make a flying trip to the SSA office tonight to turn in his Medicare B application.

I have to go.

Too busy to adjust them for you??? That is part of the service you pay for; they should've taken the few minutes it would take to do that! What kind of business is happy with providing such half-orificed attention to its paying customers/patients? (I'm squawking for you!)

Is Indigenous People's Day a National Holiday, that the bank would be shut for it? I didn't know about it.

...........Hours later..............

Stars, some places have done away with Columbus Day and made it Indigenous People's Day.

Columbus did not "discover" America and it's a sad day that he arrived because his people committed genocide and stole land.  Nothing to be celebrated.

But Columbus Day is a national holiday, not Indigenous People's Day.

I agree providing new glasses without stopping to seesaw they fit and adjust them is not right.

Columbus Day is a federal holiday, which meant the post office was closed. But my place of work, the county does not recognize it as a paid holiday. Many groups in our state recognize that day as Indigenous Peoples Day. The sign on the bank said Indigenous Peoples Day. I could have a scheduled a fitting,  it the soonest available was Tuesday afternoon, while we are traveling. I’m not going back to that office as I think the level of expertise and service has dropped off dramatically. I’ve been wearing corrective lenses for 60 years and I’m picky.
