Hi Dianah

Stars glad they'll be coming over again to help

NJ22 glad you did not lose power

Expected church to be more empty due to the time change, but we had a pretty normal crowd yesterday.  Even my dad made it there

After church did the cooking, made a cilantro lime shrimp recipe along with some more hummus.  Probably should not have done both the same day, ended up being a lot of cooking and dishes.  Weather wasn't too cold and with more light in the evening I drove to my old neighborhood for a walk.  Rest of the day was fairly quiet.  Emailed my aunt to advise I'm planning to visit at the end of May, hopefully that date works out for her.

Still doing the dating apps without success.  That one fellow I was going to meet, just as friends, hasn't yet responded when I advised him what weekend I am free.  It's possible he changed his mind, I'll wait a bit longer and see

Should be a fairly normal week, though I decided to take Friday off as I'll be going to Indiana on Saturday

Going to be a considerably warmer day today in the mid 60s

Good morning!

Joe, hope you have a good week.

I worked yesterday and the time changed really messed me up.  I should be caught up on sleep as I slept again after getting up to feed the dogs.

Usual day off today.  Bowling tonight.
Have a good day.

Woke up at 10 AM, but the house felt VERY cold to me (that's what woke me up, feeling chilly under the covers.) I got up, turned up the heat and turned on the electric fireplace in the den, then took my meds and had some coffee. I decided to crawl back under the covers, with an added blanket, to warm up. Next thing I knew the phone woke me up, and it was SiL saying she was on her way over to get Nannie....1 PM! I told myself it was really still only 12 noon in my head, so no big deal. 🙃

We watched the Oscars. I haven't seen any of the movies and actually didn't recognize many of the newer and/or foreign actors. But I did enjoy seeing some of the gowns and outfits, anyway. Some of them did not disappoint with the astonishingly odd/unusual designs, the ones that make ya say "OMG!" 😳

I think BiL will be coming over after he gets off work....maybe at 3 PM? It is already 2:30 now, so we'll see.... Goodness knows I have a lot of things that can keep me busy. I tossed out multiple BUNCHES of very old magazines Nannie had of quilts and needlework and designs for various rooms of the house. I kind of thought of donating them as well, since there are people in the world who would think them quite a 'find', but decided the recycling bucket was waiting for them!

SiL and I decided that a pro should come in to strip and clean the kitchen floor, the bathroom floors, and the stairs which have extremely old and gross carpeting on them (orange, stained, filthy, flattened shag carpet on the stairs to the den!) I don't want to take the carpeting off the stairs because it helps me keep my footing, and I don't know what is UNDER the carpets. It will have to have replacement stair coverings to put down before I decide to take the other carpeting off.

So, I guess I will do a little pottering around here and there, before BiL arrives and the Great Useless-Deck-Staircase Demolition outside will start. I'll have to see how my upper extremities react to using a sledge hammer, and if they complain the least little bit, I will just be an observer in the process. But I do plan on flinging that sledge hammer at the less sturdy parts of the stairway so I can splinter a few pieces of wood. I see them do it all the time on HGTV and it seems it would be quite satisfying!

All for now. I'll let you know later how things go....

6:15 and BiL never came over. I took one of the sledge hammers and knocked out a dozen of the railings slats, just to have a little fun. Couldn't have done anything more strenuous as the sledge hammer was pretty darn heavy, and then I got two splinters (not critical). So I put the slats in the junk trailer and called it a day. I will warn BiL to beware the rusty nails in the slats when he takes the trailer to the dump.

Sometimes demolition can be satisfying!  Good you didn't overdo it and aggravate the gypsies, No Stars!  Sounds very reasonable to defer those labor-intensive tasks -- like redoing the floors, or tearing out old carpet -- to professionals, who do things like this all the time.

I tried to get tickets for another festival, in June, but for some reason the website kept throwing the info back at me, saying one box still needed to be checked.  And when I reviewed the application page (numerous times, I might add, and with growing frustration), I saw I HAD indeed checked that box!  I ended up removing my sensitive info from the page, and I emailed the organizers for help.  Perhaps there's a gremlin or a glitch in their system, I dunno...

I didn't watch the Oscars last night, but today I looked over some of the gowns that were worn.  Some were very elegant, some were what-were-they-thinking worthy!

Didn't sleep well last night again.  I took a little nap in the morning, and this afternoon I took the car over to get it washed.  I use a drive-thru with all the UV and paint protectors ($25) and then do the interior myself, in one of many bays they have set up for this purpose.  It's actually quite satisfying to do.  I used to take it to a "hand car wash" that did everything, and that cost more and I'd often have to wait an hour for it to be done.  At least this new way, I am actively engaged in the cleaning process!

Tweety, hope bowling goes well!

Have a good evening, all!

Joe, I rarely see bluebirdss but they're pretty birds. And chocolate chip muffins do sound good.

Tweety, those are rather sad stories.

Stars, I was trying to imagine whether I'd have the strength to do any demolition. 😊. Maybe for a short time but probably not a prolonged effort.

I slept well last night though still have coughing spells. Was up and out this morning without feeling as groggy as usual. It was a day for grumpy patient/family complaints plus a lot of data grinding.

In case you were wondering, it's Patient Safety Awareness Week. I printed a banner from ASHRM and it's hanging by the time clock since they wouldn't let me put it at the front desk. I thought it would be nice for patients to see it, too, but I guess in the new building we must maintain an uncluttered look and pristine walls. I don't know.

I think I'll finish loading the dishwasher, fill my medi-set since I didn't do it yesterday, and call it a night.

The blue birds we see around here are herons and Stellar Jays. We used to see lazuli buntings in Idaho, they were really pretty.

We met with the Edward Jones lady today, and made some adjustments. We need to think seriously about a will; all three kids are named as surviving beneficiaries on our accounts, but we have to think about the house and vehicles. We stopped at Costco to dh's prescription and got hot dogs for lunch. I took 2 down comforters to the laundromat to use their big washers. While I was there I went for a jog. At one point I stepped funny, felt a pop in my left hip, and now hurts, but only when I walk on it. I'm hoping a night of rest and it will be right as rain, right? dh made chicken piccata tonight, and a cucumber salad. Not bad, but the kitchen is EEK! I'll clean it up tomorrow when it's easier to move around.

The weather was calm and cool today, but the wind is picking up again. I hate it. Sounds tend to be very irritating to me anyway. Maybe I have a touch of misophonia.

Wow, Tweety, was a sad story about your friends. Families can be so mean.

Annie, I like your idea about sharing the safety poster with the public.

I would enjoy doing a little demolition. Sometimes when I am irritated, I go out and chop at my plants. It can be quite satisfying.
