Good morning!
Stars, any more signs of the cats? Maybe if you see them again you can call animal control?
My doctor hasn't really described a "goal" but more of a threshold that if I'm consistently above 140/90 he would start a low does of an antihypertensive. Prior he said 160/90 "for a man of your age". He said there is some thought that the guideline of 120/80 is a bit too aggressive. Anyway, today's BP is a weird 109/85. I took it twice and this is after coffee.
Woke up at 2AM to the sound of deaf-blind old dog falling or jumping out of bed. He had thrown up. I let him wonder around and he made it outside and drank some water. This morning he ate with his usual enthusiasm and he's asleep while I wash his bedding. I was able to get to sleep again.
Today I have on my calendar that I'm getting my dryer vent cleaned. It's one of those that goes up to the ceiling and needs periodic cleaning. But I never got any confirmation and it's not on their website. Weird. It's between 8AM and 10AM so I'll wait while I do some things.
I have some things to think about and work on. Yesterday I was really melancholy and depressed which is my default mood. I won't go into it, but just not feeling good these days.
Woke up to a thunderstorm and rain coming down thick and heavy. I said to myself, "I'm not going anywhere today!" Looked on-line and the weather says rain and t-storms ALLLLLL WEEEEEEK! There are huge puddles all over the yard.
After I got up and dressed, I watched hubby 'walking' out to the Ford with a jacket flung over his head; he almost pitched forward 3 times, but thankfully didn't fall. GADS!
I am having coffee in the peace and quiet of the den; haven't got Nannie up yet.
Hubby says the cats and kittens are from next door, ie across the wooded area from us. We've also seen the father of the kittens, an old orange Tomcat with the tip of his tail broken. I think the folks across the way (woods) probably feed the cats but don't let them in the house. So, in a way, they are feral, but they all look well-fed and have beautiful fur. That ol' Tom looked quite cross about having to walk through the downpour this morning. Why he didn't stop and shelter until the downpour had slowed to just a regular rain, I don't know. It did slow down briefly, but now it is coming down a real frog-drowner again. Maybe he's gotten to where he was going and is now out of the rain.
I could probably get Nannie up and feed her, then go back upstairs to start shredding because the 'shred it' bin is 2-3 times as full as it has been the last few times I shredded stuff.
No ballgame scheduled for today.
I'm going to get Nannie up in 15 or 20 minutes. Whoopee.
Later, y'all~
Hello all!
I have read last week's postings, just trying to keep up with y'all. I hope Angus can get an echo soon, but good he is more comfortable with the meds. Tweety, your BP sounds good so far, good on ya! No Stars, hope it's an uneventful day for you and the recliner crew. How do you like your new vacuum cleaner?
The festival is over, it was a good four days! Saw some good bands, and we got into some good jams too. There is an ice cream/italian ice vendor who is at this festival EVERY year. We really enjoyed the italian ices (dh loves the pineapple, I got raspberry/lime), and I even got a scoop of ice cream (after eating a "regular" meal): mocha almond fudge! It was delicious! Weather has been good, though the temperatures dropped to the high 40's last night and there was some wind with a cold front coming thru. We have moved from the field to an RV park at the fairgrounds, and we have full hookups for tonight. Tomorrow we will head out to Bishop, and stay at and RV resort there (though they didn't have any hookup sites available; we will do "dry camping," which is workable with our solar cell on the roof, which charges the "house" battery.
It was good to jam with friends (the big joke is, drive 500 miles to the festival, to jam with ppl who live within an hour's drive from us at home!!). I saw the two headliners: Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, and Molly Tuttle and her band. Both were amazing, what entertainers! My friend P and I attended a couple workshops. We jammed with her a couple times. It was a very pleasant festival!
Guess that's all for now. Have a good day and evening!
Oh gosh, now this area has an alarm going on for tornado warnings. Nannie is uptight.....how's THAT for an old word?! But watching the weather maps on our local station, which has three meteorologists doing a really good job of covering the 'severe weather', the stormy area is north of us. We may catch the southern-most tip of the rain. No big winds here.
It annoys hubby that they are doing such BIG coverage of the storm. It doesn't annoy me; I am glad they are "on top of it". They really know the area, and have great radar, etc. and it helps all the areas that get this channel. These guys are quite enthusiastic about their work; hubby thinks they are "talking too much".
The next TEN days we are supposed to have rain and chances of t-storms. It is still very warm and humid outside, but I'm not going out for anything tonight.
dianah, I DO love my new vac. I used it the day after I bought it, but I may have overdone it, as my knees, left hip, lower back, left shoulder and right hand/wrist and ankle, ached pretty badly. I had the gypsies crashing on their damn tambourines for several days, but they are quieter tonight. I read that grapes (grape powder, or grape extract) are good for helping osteo-arthritic pain, so I am "doing" daily grapes. Don't want to go buy the more expensive stuff at the HFS, so I'm eating a fist-full of grapes for part of my bedtime snack every night. Can't hurt, anyway.
I try not to dwell on the state of our situation here, but with hubby doing what hubby does and Nannie not doing anything but to sit and sit and sit, it is a bit difficult not to feel dragged down by the dailiness of it all. But I have been up and down before, and I learn more about prayer by listening to 106.9 FM / The Light. I like the music and uplifting songs and speakers, I always have my car radio turned to it.
I do wonder "How much longer?" I am also wary because of the saying "Be careful what you wish for..."
Que sera sera.
Hello. I just getting home from delivering sis from hospital to her home, and picking up prescriptions and a few days of food. I was concerned that even though she has been needing 10 mg of oxycodone every three hour for pain control, the hospitalist told her to just use her 1/2 vicodin tab instead. And Motrin, even though that interacts with one of her routine meds. For a comminuted femur fracture with 3 incisions in her leg. The nurse challenged it, I challenged it and and he wouldn't change it. So the nurse called the ortho PA who agreed that was ridiculous and they called in 2 days of oxycodone. Anyway, she's home and her lovely neighbor with come over and nuke a frozen meal for her. Home health is supposed to contact her for PT & OT. Angus won't eat anything. He's drinking a little, but mostly just stands and stares.
Dianah, I'm glad you got hookups when its cold. How fun to be able to jam with the headliners.
Stars, I've heard good things about grape seed oil, and grapes are yummy any day.
Joe, I should be better about packing. I leave it to the last minute, and pack too much, and then always forget something important.
The weather is overcast and didn't even get to 60 today. I hate this weather.
I pack more like you do, J22, and invariably forget something.
Twin A wanted to make enchiladas so we slow cooked a chuck roast yesterday and shredded it this evening to make the enchiladas.
I should go check the garden before it gets dark. Still dealing with all the laundering. It takes so long. And now I need to get some of my work things washed. Or wear scrubs, except that 2 sets of scrubs are dirty.
I forgot to tell you that Nannie had apparently gotten up sometime during the night last night and added two more pads to the (wet) two that were already tucked into her pull-ups. BUT! She had put the 2nd two pads in with the sticky side UP. So pulling down her pull-ups caused a squeal...the adhesive yanked her pubic hair. Surprise! ? OUCH!

Hi Tweety
Ado glad the power was only off briefly
Stars that is scary when that happens
NJ22 too bad the rain spoiled the bike ride
Yesterday was a bit quieter. Went to church, did some cooking, and did some packing and preparation for next week's family reunion. I like doing the packing earlier if possible, so as the vacation draws near I have more free time. Exercised and watched The Pink Panther Strikes Again
Today will have a doctor's appointment after work. Once that's complete I'll take a break from my diet, which kind of feels like a vacation. Don't think I lost any weight, hoping just to keep it stable this time
Will be another fairly warm day here in the mid 80s
