Tweety that is disappointing that you didn't get at least some assistance

Stars glad the leaking faucet fix will prove easy

Did the cooking in the morning  Instead of church went to a coffee meetup for the over 50 group.  The original organizer got Covid, so I took over.  Went well, everyone who signed up showed up.  Actually lasted longer than I had planned.  Was going to work on some other 2025 goals yesterday but after the long meet and the long drive to and back I decided just to exercise and take it easy

Today nothing unusual going on, will exercise again and work on the 2025 stuff some more

Going to be colder today, only up to 20, although no snow expected

Good Morning!
Joe, glad the outing went well and hope Monday is kind.

Stars hope the leak is fixed.

I had a decent day off.  Spent two hours doing annual competencies for work.  Glad it's done.  Waiting for a response on whether they will pay me for my time here at home or not.  Would be nice since it took me two hours.
Otherwise uneventful day.  Went to hot yoga and pottered about.

The next part of my roof project, repairing some stucco underneath where they replaced some rotten wood is supposed to start today at 8:00.  It's 8:30 and they aren't here.  Should take three days.  The final part which is new gutters is not until February 3rd.  This kind of work after the hurricanes is really slow getting done.

Going into work for a mock code and telemetry test.  The last two years I passed the test but it's always iffy and shaky if I can do it.

The Chinook is upon us in Alaska. It was 42° here in the interior yesterday and all of the snow and ice slid of of my cabin roof.  That means it will be harder to keep the cabin warm next week when the temperature drops again unless it snows a foot.

I always found those tests and mock codes stressful.    @Tweety

Hello all!

Dh's cough is loosening up, getting productive, so he is on the mend.  He has had good sleep the past two nights too, which helps.  Thanks for your concern and good wishes for him!

The winds are predicted to increase the next two days, and the humidity to drop to <20%, which increases fire risk to our area.  There are no fires near us at this point, just the risk of one starting is much greater with these factors.  Last night dh and I went through important papers, and prepared a grab pile of them.  Today I will prepare a Get Out bag.  All just in case.

Not much else going on.  Have a good day!

tmb, I didn't mean to 'thumb's up" the subject matter of your post, just acknowledging your post. I'm sorry your snowy roof is bailing out of holding the heat in your cabin.

The leak in the bathroom sink must've been scared of BiL, because it is not leaking at this time!

I'm not making any goals. Always hated the question, "What do you see for yourself in five years?" Shoot, heck, *I* dunno! Still being alive, but not having so many walls to bang into on my way forward? Or at least not totally losing my s***!  I've already proved my endurance in this situation, so let's get on with things!

I got up at 8 AM, made a cup of coffee, poured my AM pills, and heard SiL come in the back door to attend to Nannie, then promptly fell back asleep without drinking the coffee or taking the meds. Up again at 12 noon. Wondering where the "energy" is that my horror-scope said I would have today.

Have to return some books to the library and go to the grocery store to stock up on the drinks we always run out of first, and more yogurt for Nannie's breakfasts. If I hadn't gone back to sleep I COULD have started in on some of the ever-present plans to clear out some more of the messes and jumbles in the upstairs rooms. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Heh, right.

I will have to go pick Nannie up from the daycare a bit after 4 PM. Yippeeee, lucky meeeee!

I sat down to computer to do something but got sidetracked and not sure what that was.

Wow 42 in Alaska is warm.  I guess with climate change things will melt.  I think that's one of the attractions of Greenland.  Who knows what riches lie below it's ice?

I was the only one signed up to the mock code in my time slot, but the instructor duty talked me through it and I passed the rhythm strip test.  It actually was an easy test but I made a couple of dumb mistakes.  Doesn't matter as long as I passed.

My financial advisor called and I'm due for an annual checkup.  I revised upward what I want a month due to rising insurance costs and that last year I forgot to factor in the cost of medicare (it's not free for me) and the supplements.  I've no idea what those will cost.  Plus (don't tell George) I took money out to fix up the roof and get some work done.

Speaking of someone (or two?) arrived to do the stucco work at 12:00 noon even though the portal said 8:00 and he left and called me that the job entailed more stucco than he thought and had to go out and get more.  So far at 2pm nothing's done.  Very cloudy and is going to rain.  Naturally it's when I need some stucco work done.  The last time it rained the roof was off.  But I can't complain.  At least my house isn't obliterated by a fire.  😞

My important document container is supposed to be fire proof, but if I had time I would bring it with me.  My big deal is I don't have a lot of things documented as far as contents go.  Frankly some of the stuff was so old or my ex's that I don't have receipts but I should at least get them photographed and stored somewhere.

Florida has a lot of fires in the dry months of Winter/Spring but they are contained by the time it comes even close to us.  I have smelled smoke from them before though.  Hurricanes and tornadoes are the thorn in our side.

Hi. It remains cool here, not even out of the 30s and it's almost noon. it may get down to 20 by the weekend, which is typical for January here: clear and cold for about a week. The sun peeks out from time to time. dh was feeling poorly for a few days, but better now. Initially he c/o a toothache, that Aleve and tylenol were barely touching. Then it seemed to change to sinuses. I gave him some Sudafed, and that seemed to make a big difference. We drove up river to look for eagles. At one place we saw around 20, but they were too far to get good photos. But we got a good walk in, then a quick stop at the grocery store, and we had an early dinner at Wendy's. It had to be quick because we had the dogs with us. I enjoy their baked potatoes, dh likes their hamburgers and chili.

I have to admit, our important papers are scattered about. I see notebooks/organizers for sale in case you die, and that seems useful for many situations. I worry that if something happened to me, dh would be floundering. I have insurance documents in one place, passports another, but a lot is online.

My first couple of ACLS classes were stressful, but the instructors sort of eased up on the pressure on later classes. One year I could not get a good seal on the ambu bag on the infant and the instructor was a little spicy about it. On our floor, we used to walk through open-chest codes, which I always found interesting. I only experienced one open code, and all I had to do was call it, start compressions, and boom, the team was there.

Plumbing. It's necessary, and I mostly understand it, but I don't want to do it. I have limited hand strength and I worry about getting things threaded and tightened correctly.

Several firefighters have traveled from our state to California, including 4 from our county, along with a wildland engine.

Got some AZO test strips to see if I can get a clean stream from Nannie on one (it comes 3 test strips to a pkg.), and see if it says Nannie does, might, or doesn't have a UTI, I also got her some of the 'Antibacterial Urinary Tract Defense' tablets (also AZO) just in case.. Hoping not to have to take Nannie to the doctor's office, but we'll see. Maybe he would be willing to phone in a 'script if he feels she should take something stronger than AZO for it.

I went and picked her up at Daycare and the woman who runs it said "We had the best time today!" Nannie likes her a lot, and she "really enjoys" Nannie. Nannie was glad to hear she will be going back again on Wednesday. They said she ate well, she pooped (yay!), and had a really good day, talking and doing "senior center' kind of activities. Nannie does scare them by moving around so fast, and they are afraid she might fall. But, she has fallen many times before, just not as much lately. She's been going up and down the stairs a good # of times, especially when I don't have an eye on her. I don't want them to worry if she does fall; there will be no law suits! But re: her stairs-travels here at home...I wanna say, "One of these days, Alice.....> to the MOON!" but she wouldn't get the reference; she probably has no idea, anymore, who Jackie Gleason is! And she would probably tell me her name isn't Alice. (At least she knows that much!)

Almost time for the news to come on. I will fix something for her supper later because she gets snacks at daycare and often isn't hungry when I get her home. But *I* am hungry, so pretty soon I will zap something to fill my tummy. //  I had vegetable fried rice and it was goooo-oood!  // Nannie says she is not even close to hungry; they serve AM and PM snacks and lunch at the Care Center. In a while I will have to give her something to eat because she has some PM pills to swallow. I want those wide-open eyes of hers to droop by bedtime!

I mentioned the snacks twice in the same paragraph! Hit a slick-spot in my brain, I reckon.
