Good morning!
Belgium does indeed sound nice. I hope to explore more of Europe one day.
I'm not understanding the process of me getting the new position. Apparently HR is done and I don't need to hear from them the offer. It's considered a transfer. Now apparently the salary has to go through the VP and the manager will talk to me Thursday when I return. I get the distinct feeling she's unenthusiastic about it all and perhaps offering the positions because she's told to. Frankly I'm unenthusiastic at this point myself.
Off today. Need to get some CEUs done to renew my license. Bowling is tonight.
It's cold for mid-Florida at 47. May make it to the low 40's.
I will not be watching the inauguration. But I wish him and our country well the next four years.
Hello all!
Yah, Tweety, the new job so far seems pretty underwhelming, eh? They are certainly not forthcoming with the transfer pathway. I hope you are informed of something soon.
Joe, too bad you had reduced time at the art institute, but at least you went!
I did a couple errands yesterday, nothing earth-shaking.
Have a good day!
Sunny, sunny, sunny, and we will be having a high temp of 32 degrees! w00t?
I hope the Nannie person sleeps today.....she is so confused this morning, doesn't know left from right. Thinks her bedroom is where her recliner is. During breakfast she kept looking UNDER the towel put on her chest to protect her clothes, because she thought she spilled something, but she didn't. I mean, why would any spill be UNDER the towel but not ON the towel? I stood up and went into her room to turn out the light and start "first wash" and she wondered where I went. I was in there less than a minute; and you can't get anywhere from in her room, except back out into the den. I told her to drink her juice, and she looked around for it and couldn't find it.....couldn't recognize a glass full of cran. juice which is right beside her on the chair-side table. Poor Nannie, having a harder time with even simple 'commands', like "put your spoon down on the tray." She doesn't need to hold her spoon while she is drinking juice and then the Boost, but she doesn't even know she is holding the spoon! Picky-pooky; what else is to be expected from a dementia patient who is sinking deeper into her disease?
So, no, 'we' are not going out today. She's turned into a "Going-Out Junkie". Not going to DayCare until Wednesday and Friday this week. Psst: The good news is that she already is sitting with her eyes closed. I'm going to adjust the back of the recliner so she is more inclined to relax and sleep.
I'm not going to watch Trump's anything today. I saw some of the multiple headlines about him and his First Day plans online as I scrolled through to find something more interesting. And I DID find something more interesting! Did you know that pee-ing is a contagious act among a group of monkeys? Like a yawn in human beings. Weird, but more engaging a story than the inauguration and the start of Rump's Reign. I took in our flag last night as a silent protest. There is no way to fly it half-mast for MLK Jr, so down it comes.
Tomorrow we are supposed to get even colder and MAY have a dusting of the white stuff, or a 'snow-shower'.
SiL called me to tell me she tested positive for Covid again. She has no temp, and the doc at urgent care gave her, instead of an anti-viral, something for (chronic?) bronchitis. SiL apologized for having Nannie yesterday, but assured me she was not 'all over Nannie', so maybe Nannie wouldn't get any of her symptoms. She wanted to make sure Nannie was feeling okay, didn't want to give Covid to her. I dunno, Nannie has had all her shots, and seldom goes out in public. So, SiL is going to work for 4 hours this afternoon at the ABC store, and then NOT work tomorrow. (Like that makes a heck of a lot of sense,)
First wash is on it's first spin while I have my 2nd cup of coffee....And I will have to do a load of MY laundry as well. The fun never ends, does it?!
Tweety, your place of employment always sounds weird. This whole thing about the "new" (old) job and all......SMH. Do they expect you to somehow ascertain that the 'new' position is yours, while not telling you anything? And when is it supposed to start, or has it already? And there is no change in your pay? Anyway, I wish you well. We all are your very own personal cheer-leaders here!
j22, Belgium? When and for how long? Sounds intriguing. I never have heard much about Belgium as a vacation destination; I will have to look it up so I can get excited, and then kinda envious! Now I have this song running through my head: "Vee-Aay-Cee-Aay-Tee-I-Oh-EN, we're gonna have a ball!" No idea who sang it or when, maybe late 50's or early 60's? Maybe someone like Bobby Rydell? Doesn't matter. I hope I haven't started any Ear-Worms with that!
Welp, time to trade out the washer's load into the dryer, and get my laundry a'washin'. Nannie's head is starting to droop over to her right side, which indicates possible deep sleep is on it's way. C'mon Sandman!
The sandman is falling down on the job! I was doing the laundry and when I came back out into the den, Nannie was half-way out of her chair (sitting ON the footrest, of course) because she was going to come into her room; she said, "I wondered who was in there." I told her, 'nobody but us chickens!' Got her back in the recliner and once again explained to her, when she asked, that we are not going a-n-y-w-h-e-r-e today. I told her she would be going to the Sr Ctr on Wednesday and Friday, and that seemed to satisfy her for the time being, But her eyes close and open, close and open....."What is that noise?" It's the washing machine shifting gears, is all. Oh my, I hope, wish, and pray she will doze off again. The one, no, two good things that happened so far today: 1,) She swallowed her pills without too much trouble at all, and 2.) She did not see the cat that walked through the back yard! So, here is 2a.) I don't have to listen to her talk about cats, or other critters and creatures (like a human) in the back yard.
THIS IS YOUR LIFE, No Stars! I used to watch that TV show. I remember several surprise guests whom the honoree was NOT thrilled to see or talk to. Maybe they should have Mrs Scott and Mrs Banks on MY episode, they would totally crush me with their opinions; neither of them ever exhibited much patience with me, Hoo-Haa!
I had a couple of those, too, Stars! Mrs. Conner wrote on my report card that being smart wasn't everything and sometimes those other things were even more important. I'm paraphrasing, but it wasn't any nicer than that, believe me. She seemed to revel in catching me "daydreaming." Probably frustrated her all to pieces that I still got good grades and had the highest test scores.
Overcast today. I am wearing a black t shirt with Lady Liberty's torch and "resist" on it. I skipped watch the inauguration, even though I love history. I am going in to remove the last of my stuff from my car. I am going with Dh and he wants to make sure"a few" stops so who knows when we'll get home.
Belgium and Holland were once rich commerce cities, so we will visit medieval buildings, churches and museums. And sampling fried potatoes, chocolate and beer. And we'll visit windmills, gardens, battlefields—Flanders Field. Stars look up Bruges and Ghent.
What a disjointed hiring process! The last 2 places I worked were unionized, so everything was pretty straightforward.

Thanks for the cheerleading. Hope Nanny or you don't get covid.
My job has not started, although I am one of the key charge nurses and do it about 60% of my schedule. There will be a raise that goes along with this. I will have to hear the salary and then accept or decline. I'm not going to bicker about a raise in a job I'm practically already doing already. I will just do it 100% of the time.
What bothers me is that I asked could I still have Mondays and Tuesdays off every week and they said "there are no set schedules". I said it was for my work life balance. I think it's going to clash with the childcare of the other nurse that might have been offered the job. At my age I have no social life so my bowling night is important to my work life balance.
Like I said, at this point I'm not enthusiastic about it and if I thought I could work 6:1 ratios until I retire I would decline. But being in charge is no walk in the park either, especially when we have a patient assignment.
Bleh
Ado~ When I was in the 7th grade the PRINCIPAL wrote on my report card: "Stars is making 'witty' comments in class."
My mother told me that's because often my comments hit the nail on the head, and some grownups had a hard time hearing a kid be cleverly and verbally pertinent. WHOA! Yay Mom!

Stars sounds like a productive day
NJ22 I'm sure Belgium will be interesting
Ado hopefully you can get that refilled soon
Hi Tweety
Was kind of a busy day yesterday. Did the remaining meal prep in the morning. Went to church and left during the final hymn so I could get home and then get ready to head to the train station. After downtown met my friend B and we ate at a barbecue restaurant and then went to the Art Institute. We got there later than expected, so we didn't get as much time there as I'd hoped. Rest of the day was quiet
Thinking work may be quiet today as the insurance company we work with has MLK Day off. Otherwise should be an ordinary day. Since I have a date to visit my aunt will need to ask for a day off and check and make sure the cat sitter is available. Also need to confirm that dad made hotel reservations for that same day
Noticed I've started waking up 1-2 hours before my alarm, although I do fall back to sleep. Not sure why, might try going to bed later and see if that helps
Pretty cold day here, only up to 13, although tomorrow is even colder with a high of only 2. Thankfully things warm up starting Wed
