Tweety glad to hear the concert was good

Stars I'm glad he's at least somewhat moderating his drinking

NJ22 glad you had more energy today even if sleep was iffy

Ado glad the water is back on

Quieter day yesterday.  Went to church early to attend adult education for the first time.  Dad came later for the service,  he's going to try and attend in person on occasion,  which I think is a good idea

Later I ran a few errands and did the cooking.  Decided to go for a walk rather than use the exercise bike again, which was a good idea.  Need to do that more often.  Did some more research on evangelism for the church

Was thinking back about J and I, while much of what we did was forgettable we do have some nice memories.  I find that thinking back on good memories is often helpful

I have to work today but hope it will be fairly quiet.  We do have one person out still

Going to be in the mid 40s again, might try and get outside but rain is expected

Good morning!

Joe, I'm glad you have some positive memories to look back with on J.

Ado, glad the water's back on.  I would definitely say for your son's future losing weight should be a priority.  Having back problems at that weight I would think would be tougher.

Stars, what kind of puzzles?

J22, glad you got some mojo back.

Trying to reset my body clock since I slept to nearly 11:00 yesterday.  Woke up at 6:30 which is more reasonable.  I need to reset my clock to 5AM on Wednesday for work.

I got a little mojo and cleaned the bathrooms and have some beans in the pressure cooker.  Made a cucumber salad Korean style.  Will make a lentil chili with sweet potatoes for dinner.  Will try to resist a nap but I'm already getting tired.  LOL

Bowling tonight.

Have a great day.

Hello all!

We had a great time yesterday, playing at the Museum's Old West Days.  As we did on Saturday, we played two one-hour sets of music, in a large room just off the museum entrance, where they had set up several activity tables for the kids.  As there was an hour between the two sets, we wandered through the museum, taking in the various exhibits.  We plan on going back, dh and I, to leisurely enjoy the exhibits.  After we played, we packed up the instruments and gear, and met with our fiddler K and bassist E at a steakhouse, and had a great meal and convo!  When we got home later, we unpacked, took the dog out, and watched the latest release of The Chosen.  I could, however, barely keep my eyes open!  I didn't sleep much on Sat. night, so after we finished The Chosen, I took my shower and went to BED!  Slept through till 8am!  It felt so good!  Today we will rest and relax.

We have one more program to do at the Victorville museum branch, on Saturday, and that will complete our programs for them.  However, now they have our number, and we may get more calls from them.  They appreciated our playing on the fly for their line dancing demos, and just in general liked having live music.  For us, it was like a jam and we had fun with it.  The cats are glad we are home, however!

It rained most of yesterday, and started off raining this morning, but looks like it has stopped and may only rain again in the late afternoon.  Our electricity went off on Sat night, for about an hour.  I took my shower that night to the light of a little LED lantern!  Glad it didn't stay off for long.  My sister reports that some ppl in the Delta area (near Sacramento) had power off for a week!!

I have been keeping up with your posts and happenings.  You are all in my prayers.

Yup, Tweety, more work cleaning that new-fangled bathroom upgrade, LOL!  Good luck with bowling tonight!  That tofu dish (posted in FB) looked delicious!

Joe, good that your dad is coming to SOME live church sessions.  I hope work is quiet for you today (it should be, as it is a holiday).

I read that Gina Lollobrigida died today, age 95!  In recent photos of her, she looked feisty, and it is reported she has been active (till now).

Have a good day!

PUZZLES: Crossword, Word Seek, Anagrams, Cryptograms, Fill Ins, Quote Falls, Frame Works,  Double Trouble, Crostics, Roulette, Brick-by-brick, Syl-La-Crosstics, Flower Power ....The only ones I DON'T do are Sudoku, and some logic number/word problems.

Well, stick a fork in me, I'M DONE! I lost, the Dr lost, and hubby has won a bonus month of drinking. (!) Basically, doc was quite disappointed, told me I was right to take away the Ativan. He reluctantly prescribed Xanax for sleep, but reduced them from 90 capsules to 60 capsules for 30 days. I explained quite plainly to hubby that it limits him to 2 capsules per day, and if he was wise (!) he would continue to aim for MODERATION in his drinking, and not mix the Xanax dose(s) with the vodka. Since he has trouble sleeping he should save those 2 Xanax for bedtime. Yuh, if he would! I expect to see him wobbly-walking and all that exciting stuff, but I'm not chasing him around if he gets that way. LET THE HUBS FALL WHERE HE MAY.

Doc asked hubby if he'd given further thought to going to a rehab place; hubby said he had, but he "would like to wait about a month" before approaching that again. Maybe he thinks he is somehow miraculously going to quit on his own, I dunno. Anyway, since hubby's been non-compliant, it was the quickest appt we ever had. Next appt is on Feb 16th at 1:20 PM. I'm not holding my breath.

Neighbor who mows our lawn gave hubby the AA book, this one printed in 1976. He told hubby that this was how he got away from being a drunk all the time.

Welp, the lasagna will be ready in about an hour, 'n' I'm STAHVING!

Yup, he has toasted himself and is slowly and carefully hauling himself up the stairs and barely making it. Gonna be some kind of night; for him, anyway.

No Stars, hope the lasagne was deeeeeee-licious!  How VERY, VERY disappointing -- Mr. Stars' behaviour and the MDs lack of proactiveness and that he does not recognize how difficult this is for YOU.  I suppose he feels he is abiding by the patient's (Mr. Stars') wishes.  Hmmmphh.  Mr. Stars' brain is pickled, he is unable to make well-thought-out, family-inclusive decisions.  ((((((((((((( No Stars )))))))))))

Well I wasn't entirely lazy today, I made an asian cucumber salad and just baked a few gingerbread cookies.  The recipe today turned out VERY mushy, nothing that one could make gingerbread men out of.  So I did drop cookies, which taste great but as I mentioned to dh, "they look like little turds!"  ?

I think we will join the online jam here, soon (it starts at 4).  We have been absent over the weekend, so it's time to get back "with it."

No rain most of the day, which has been nice cuz the little dogger does NOT like to do his business in the rain!  It takes twice as long to encourage him to "go," and dh gets soaked while waiting for him!

Later!

Yes, how disappointing. Would that Mr. Stars would trust another doctor.

Lasagna sounds good.

Joe, that seems good that your dad will sometimes attend in person.

Stars, I like to do sudoku puzzles and crossword puzzles. I have a sudoku app on my phone with 5 difficulty levels -- Breezy, Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert. I can almost always get the Hard ones and almost never get the Expert ones. The app teaches techniques to solve the expert ones, but a few of them I understand and the others lose me in the explanation.

Tweety, hope bowling is a good time. You're right about Twin B. I don't know when (sometime in the last 4? years) or how he got so big. My advice to both boys about healthier diets goes in one ear and out the other. Not that I am a fantastic role model but I do better than they do.

Speaking of which, the birthday cake turned out ugly but it tastes good.

I did not realize that Gina Lollobrigida was still alive. Being without power for a week would be pretty stress-inducing. Just this morning I was celebrating the miracle of hot running water ?

Still a lot of illness (much of it Covid related) at work. I'm going to try working from home the next couple of days (I have a training conference that's online anyway). Might have to come in to do some little things but will limit my contact with others.

Hi. Not much happening around here. Weather is overcast and mild. I cleaned two bathrooms and vacuumed the house. Such excitement. Dh is putting up new shelves behind the washer and dryer. This has required 3 trips to the hardware store. The washer is useable now, but dh left some wet laundry in it for 4 days, so now that is being rewashed. I watched "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" on Hulu last night. Very good acting, and poignant topic about aging and regrets. I also watched "Call the Midwife" . It was a rerun, but I had only seen the last few minutes the last time I watched it.

I have a massage scheduled for tomorrow morning, and then dh and I are going in to see the financial planner. Dh has a pension that he can cash out but I think that will give us a greater tax liability, but I am no tax expert. He thinks we pay off our house with the pension cash-out, and then buy a smaller house free and clear. I have been saying for 2 years if we move he has to get rid of at least 75% of his stuff, but of course, that hasn't happened.

The news about Mr. Stars is so disappointing. Bigs hugs ((((NoStars))). I usually do the NY Times crossword every day, and I've started doing Wordle. My brain just doesn't do Sudoku. And I like jigsaw puzzles on the computer, because I can magnify the images and puzzle pieces.

My two sons have opposite body types. Eldest is tall and rail-thin, 6'3" and 145 lb. The youngest is 6' and about 300 lb. And their eating and activity is opposite as well. Weird how habits get established.

J22, I saw "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" and really enjoyed it.  Very good cast and story.  There's a sequel called "The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" which isn't quite as good but not bad.
