Good morning!
Joe, I hope you hear from the counselor. Would be nice to go back to someone who knows you and who you like.
I love bahn mi. It's the influence of the French colonizers that one of their signature dishes in Vietnam is a baguette sandwich. One of the Asian vegan restaruants here makes a good version. I've made vegan versions at home using shiitake mushrooms that was so good I brought it on a picnic and served it to best friend who liked it. Also I've made it with tofu. One of the Asian stores is near a Vietnamese community have sells them ready made to go.
Yesterday when I floated I worked with an old work friend that I've known the whole time I've been there. We worked Neuro together in the late 90's for a few years. I put a picture of us up on my socials Instagram and facebook and thought "who is that old man in that picture". Oh it's me and I'm 63. Ugh........
Slept in today but needed it after working the weekend. Will do some laundry and normal stuff. Bowling tonight.
I don't think I've ever had banh mi, as I always get pho when I have a chance.
That is frustrating that the counselor is not calling back, even if it's just to let you know they aren't available.
imma trying to pay attention to an online meeting, but it's tough. The facilitator keeps interrupting the speakers.
Tweety, that sounds like a big mess about the hip fx. Yeouch.
I'll check back later.
We have a Winter storm warning with an expected 2-6" of heavy wet snow. Sometime tomorrow. I'm not too worried. Surface temps should be warm enough that it won't stay long and the roads will be mostly wet, I think. And I don't have far to go.
Today I drove to "the city" to meet with someone at the mothership. It was 20 degrees when I started out, 47 now.
I won't bore y'all (today) with the latest same ol' same ol' from Gma. When I got home Friday, one of the dogs was outside vomiting and having diarrhea. It seemed to resolve pretty quickly. But Hubs was out with her and was saying that she's old and it's time to put her down. I said, "why? there's nothing wrong with her?" and he kept on about the being old, etc. so I asked if we were talking about the dog or his mother. He laughed. But this morning, when I discovered dropped turds on the loveseat, he said again it is time for the dog to go. That seems pretty cold to me.
Hello all!
It is WINDY, WINDY, WINDY today! 58 degrees (dunno what the wind chill factor is, but to me it's COLD as well as WINDY)! I'm glad I trimmed the bushes outside yesterday!
Ado, we feel ya, re: your old(er) dogger. We have an 18 yo cat with a slow-growing tumor on her right jaw. VERY slow-growing. She is so old that no one would consider any surgery -- and we checked a few years ago, she was too old THEN! But she is still eating and drinking and peeing and pooing and getting around (though she sleeps most of the time, as befits an 88-year-old!). She enjoys getting petted. We put towels on all the furniture she settles on, because she drools some... We just can't bring ourselves to say "it's time." She continually surprises us with little bursts of energy, or renewed appetite, as if to say "It's not time yet, Mom and Dad!" For now we will continue as is.
I think we will do the online jam today - both of us. I skipped it yesterday but dh did it.
Have a good afternoon and evening!
dianah, we had a cat, Minnie, that had a tumor in her right jaw. At first I thought it might be a dental abscess and we gave her antibiotics but it didn't improve so the vet biopsied it and it was malignant. I would not say that it was slow-growing, though. We kept her with us until it was pretty clear that she was near the end, which was just after her 19th birthday. She would drool (and bleed, at the end).

Awwww, so sad to lose them. Nice that she had a loving family around her till the end.
My sister faced the same thing with one of her old dogs. It had a tumor growing on the side of his neck, but it eventually started to affect his airway and they had to euthanize him.
It's tough with an older pet but if they aren't in pain and are physically able no need to put them down just because they are old. I struggled with this with a 17 year old I had that one got frail but didn't seem to be in pain or anything. Eventually he stopped eating and I knew it was time, but he wasn't suffering so I kept him home and after four days he passed away with me at home without a struggle. I couldn't have handled a struggle and would have euthanized him if he was struggling at the end or lingering. I had a friend come over (my ex that loved the dog) to see if he was suffering and I wasn't just hanging on and he agreed that he seemed fine.
My deaf-blind 14 year old seems quite healthy, just a little more frail, and doesn't always go outside to do his business. But thankfully I have all tile floors. Being deaf-blind I think his quality of life is diminished as he doesn't go on walks but he seems okays.

Hi Dianah
Was a fairly nice day yesterday. Did adult education and church and church coffee hour. Was the assisting minister that day. Was nice to see everyone, and a new person
Afterwards ran a few errands and came home and did the cooking. Then relaxed with a movie before exercise. Overall a fairly quiet day
Was very good last week about controlling work anxiety, hope I can do the same this week, and keep it up long enough to become a habit
Emailed the counselor one last time over the weekend. If I don't get a response I'll have to look elsewhere
Going to be in the lower 30s/upper 20s this week, with periodic snow. So far have had hardly any snow
