Good morning!
Joe, I'd never heard of that play either. Hope you have a good day.
J22, hope you got some rest after your travels.
Ado, I think I've mentioned before how mother laments her circle of German friends that have all died. She met them through "The Officer's Wives Club" and several lived in the neighborhood. They were friends for decades. My dad's younger sister is still living as well as a cousin but he has no social circle left. I guess if you live long enough and you're in your right mind it happens.
After two nights of poor sleep I took my benzo and when I finally fell asleep didn't move until Waffles woke me up at 6:30. We all went back to bed and slept a while longer.
Need to motivate myself to get some things done today, but just routine. Have to call my bank because my debit card is locked and the number on the back couldn't help me. Also am going to call the roofer as they were a no show again. I'm sick of them.
Tweety~ Ruthless Roofers Relapse, a terrible disease which leaves leaks laughing. Does that company have some kind of motto that claims their customers think they are "The Best" or something like that? Word of Mouth should claim otherwise. How many unfinished projects are they juggling? And what's the POINT of that? And what's their EXCUSE? And if comes a terrible rain storm, will they pay for the damages their incomplete job might cause? I know you feel kinda stuck and the complaining won't help them get back to complete their work....their "CONTRACT"? (do they even sign one?) Anyway, I am quite huffed up on your behalf and feel the need to kick some shins in Florida, so let me know if my services will be required. I could use a few days off and I sure could use a good spleen-venting.....
I dunno what I am going to do today.....well, that's not entirely true. I DO have to do a few domestic tasks, as well as personal care. I need to shower and shampoo. And I should go get my nails done, since I have the time. I s'pose I am biting off my nose to spite my face, but with time off comes the stubborn streak of resentment, which sometimes urges me to say .... oh what's a 'decent' way to put it? I want to just "shuffle off to Buffalo". (more like effitt, to tell you the truth.) Hubby and I used to say, "Let's run away today, ya want to?" Always wanted to but never did. I do have less kind ways to put it, but we'll leave it at that.
Coffee is cold, so I will get up now. First thing on the agenda is to get clean. After that I'll toss everything up in the air to see what lands first, and do that ...........or at least MAYBE I will.
See that? First thing on the agenda has been switched to Plan B. Don't it figure?!
BiL has come over to start dismantling and tearing down the deck he built umpteen years ago; it is dangerous to walk on, for sure, and it is ugly as well.....too weathered, with bent and splintered planks. I asked if he had a sledge hammer I could swing a few times and he said "SURE!" but I think it would make the gypsies throng back into my shoulders and elbows, so I'm taking 'the better road' so I don't hurt myself. But I sure would love to be able to do it! GREAT tension relief!
Okay, gotta run to the store 😖 as Nannie is out of yogurt. It seems that even if I buy a dozen, they are gone sooner than I expect them to be. Ah me, oh well.
Plan B included making a mess for myself in my 'old' bedroom. BiL is going to the dump with some of the deck stuff, and he asked me if I had anything to add to the trailer; Well, I do (did!)...had 3 sets of 3 plastic stacking drawers, which had been collecting junk and partially sorted things and DUST and dirt for YEARS. They don't clean up well and I hate them anyway. I dumped some of the stuff in a wastebasket and the rest of it on the floor! Now I HAVE TO go through that stuff and can really get stern about eliminating all the things I 'thought' I might need, but actually don't need or want to save any more. Like, for instance, accoutrements for LONG hair, which I do not have any more. And stuff and stuff. And still more stuff! Wheeeee! Don't know when I will get to it, but still, it is a step forward, kinda-sorta.
Hi. An overcast day. A bit of a lull before the next weather system of high winds followed by lots o rain. Before the rain started, I took the doggos for a walk, and then did a little clean up in the yard.I feel like I could sleep for 3 days. I've been fighting some sort of throat tickle, dry cough and I hope it doesn't turn into anything worse, but I do feel really tired. The dogs seemed to have been traumatized by stay at dd, and or separation anxiety. They are really clingy, and the little one was really jumpy on our walk.
I applied for a visa sort of thing that we need to change planes at Heathrow Airport next month. It was pretty slick, did it all on my phone: took a pick of my passport, took a selfie, attested to not being a criminal. Easy-peasy. I still need to look for some sort of cross-body wallet or purse for travel.
I've been eyeing some dishes to pack up and donate. I have some nice crystal, but I'll never use it again, and my kids have no interest in it. And once dh leaves for Costco, I am going to grab some stuff and put it in the bottom of the garbage can, heh, heh.
Tweety, how frustrating about your roof! I hope you haven't paid them in full.
Hello all!
Keep up the culling, nursej22! You and No Stars are an inspiration! Poor doggies, I hope they settle in soon.
Tweety, though I don't mention it much, I do follow your roof saga. 😞 What a conundrum: on the one hand, you want it done, so want to light a fire. On the other hand, don't want them to have MORE reasons not to come (getting burnt by said fire)! There's gotta be a way... I'm sure you are checking into all avenues of recourse. Just to get it DONE! Push that aside and have fun bowling tonight!
Joe, I hope work went OK today.
I did a couple errands then went to the grocery store for a few things. Yes, No Stars, the endless trips to the grocery store -- they happen here too!!
It's 83 degrees out! A Summer's day! Snow is rapidly melting from the mountains. Whenever I see the eagle cam, the eagles are panting (if it's over 50 degrees they pant to cool off). The one nest on Catalina Island -- Two Harbors, I believe, is the location -- has three good-sized "babies" who are getting their pin feathers. So cool to watch the cams of these magnificent birds!
Oldest ds started part-time as a barista at the Cat Cafe in town! He is looking forward to a change from bartending! Me? I say, Cats? Coffee? Sign me up!
Have a good evening!
I've been thinking of a cat cafe for the next time I get to choose a location for the book club. Guess I'd have to make sure no one's allergic.
Last night I had a "Sopapilla for mia" affogato at the dessert place. Whether it was the espresso or just my bad habits I didn't sleep well.
Hubs is putting a toe in the water of clearing things out. He brought a few things from the storage unit to sort through.

Tweety I don't think I've heard of Road Show before
Ado a dessert shop sounds like an interesting place to meet for book club
Dianah glad the torte turned out OK even if it didn't rise
NJ22 glad you didn't have any accidents with all of that rain
Did cooking before church, then went to church to serve as reader an usher. Ran some errands after church and then had a meeting at the library that ran long. The rest of the day was quiet
Will have to contact the landlord again, the heating system still isn't working right, still remaining on when it's above the set temperature
Today is the last day the coworker will be off, so I'm hoping things will slow down by tomorrow. Nothing unusual going on after work, just laundry. Only day this week with nothing going on
Going to be quite warm, in the mid 50s today
