Good morning!
Stars you shouldn't take verbal abuse. Good luck. It's mostly a myth that insurance does not pay for AMA. If they treated him they need to pay up to the time he stopped treatement.
Apparently there's an Arctic cold from coming from way up north that will make it down here by the weekend. Wish you'd keep it up there. For us it will be in the upper 30's and not get out of the 40's. At least I'll be at work.
Woke up early very hot thinking I was spiking a fever. But that wasn't the case. I was under a thick comfortable and someone turned the heat on to not turn off and it just kept running. No wonder my bills are so high.
I'm supposed to bring potato salad to a covered dish tonight at the bowling alley but will buy ready made from the store and call it a day.
Good morning all!
Joe, we do the same, setting out ant traps because the cat food bowls attract ants. Only sometimes. Seems when it is really hot for many days in the Summer, and when it is rainy, the ants come in looking for, alternately, a cool spot and a dry spot. I have seen ads for the indoor composters, sounds interesting. We have a very small lot, could dump the compost there, I suppose.
Tweety, relieved you have no new fever. Is your bowling team holding its place? Enjoy bowling tonight! Brrrrrrr, 40 degrees sounds cold, let alone 30!
Not much planned today. Just pottering.
Have a good day!
G-g-good m-m-m-morning! (that's me shivering). I am sorry to be sending along the cold, but I'm pretty done with it already, and it's only been a day. It's 14 with the wind chill making it feel like -2. We left the cabinet doors open beneath the sinks and left the water dripping it the kitchen to keep the pipes from freezing. And I have cancelled the dog walk! youngest ds and I are planning to go shopping, blergh. I did make 2 batches of cookies last night: Russian teacakes and Mexican chocolate cookies. I think I will make some drop sugar cookies later today. I used to make candy at this time of year (divinity, fudge, and peanut brittle) but nobody seems to like that stuff anymore.
NoStars, you did the right thing to call the medics. I do hope they did a head scan, along with encelphalopathy, your hubby could have bleeding in his head. Fingers crossed for some sort of action today.
Dianah, that is a beautiful bass. My ex-SIL has several stringed instruments that he plays and displays proudly. I wished my grandsons had stayed with violin, but alas.
Annie, thank you for sharing your photos. I too wish I had musical talent. My parents couldn't afford to rent an instrument for me to play in grade school band. I did a beginning guitar class in high school, but never got past learning the basic chords.
Tweety, I should think pre-made salad will be just fine for your potluck. A warm snuggly bed seems perfect for recovery.
Joe, I've heard about indoor composting, but I would be afraid of attracting insects. We compost, but it is outdoors and I spread it in the garden. I have trouble with the avocado pits sprouting.
Yes, I think the AMA thing is a myth.
So, first thing hubby says to me, "Do you suppose the doctor would want to see me so soon after I was in the hospital?" I said "Oh yeah, he'll want to see you. For follow-up as much as anything else. But you ARE going to that appointment, period." He says he is not going to take a shower or change his clothes. I told him I think the doc has encountered worse than the shape he's in. He says he doesn't hurt, and has no headache. He's MY headache, for sure.
I feel sooooo tired. Weary of everything. I didn't fall asleep until about 4:45 AM and then only after I took a 0.5 mg Xanax.
Appt is not until 3:40 PM. I'll let y'all know how that goes---
Dr's visit: Reassured him about the med changes. Can't start him on Librax because the doc is going to be gone all next week. Doc thinks hubby needs a professional detox-er to take care of that. May start the Librax in two weeks when doc comes back, although the doc doesn't feel comfortable but he may get hubby to go to a doc who is familiar with all that's involved. No in-patient rehab until the new year. Doc has or is going to confer with another doc about it. He also has had some other doc refer to us as which are the better of the rehab places, because he said "You guys are going to have to find a rehab place" and I said "WE are?" (He told us one NOT to go to.) But apparently hubby is 'winging it" until the new year's started.
Ef me.
Sending positive vibes, Stars.
I'm glad to know that the AMA/insurance bit is mostly myth.
Stepson is ... troubled. And troubling. He's been texting me today and he poked enough that I responded. Which did not go well. He says I can communicate with him through his sister now. I also caught up his car payments (Merry Christmas?). He gave up the job he had. To be fair, his emotional state probably makes it extremely difficult to work. But I simply cannot pay his mortgage, car insurance, and car payments, groceries, gas, and meds indefinitely. And I get tired of being blamed for all his issues.
And here I am trying to get work done.
Sorry, I'll try to post again when I'm in better spirits.
Stars, yes it has to be your choice. The doctor can't be seen as having a conflict of interest in admitting him somewhere. They are not allowed to show preferences, everything has to be patient/family choice.
What perhaps you should do is speak with someone in admissions at a rehab you're interested in. Often they take it from there and get the insurance and authorization themselves. Tell them things are at a crisis level and you can't wait.
This doctors inaction is maddening to you I know. But what have you got to lose?
Ado, how frustrating for you. Don't think you always have to come here singing like Little Miss Sunshine. This is real life. Hugs to you. I hope those involved can discuss and come up with a plan for him.
I found some dry split peas in the cupboard, and found an online vegan split pea soup (most others call for a ham hock, and I don't eat pork). It is simmering on the stove now. Recipe called for chopped carrots, celery and cabbage, plus thyme and oregano. As well as the dried peas. Sounded good, and the kitchen now smells good too!
Stars, hope you can find a suitable rehab facility. Mr. Stars doesn't seem to be in any shape to initiate this search. ?

Tweety glad you're on the mend
NJ22 that was nice of the waitress. A lot of juncos here too in Winter
Ado I also decided I was done with cross stitch after a fairly involved project
Dianah I've never seen an aluminum bass before
Stars glad that it was just a few staples, and that he has that appointment today. Perhaps if he gets a bill in the future he'll think twice about signing out AMA
Quieter day yesterday. After church helped with some of the Christmas decorating and talked with a new member, who was also helping
Ran a few errands, exercised a bit, and worked on my part of the presentation a bit. Had to vacuum and set out bait traps as the cat's food is attracting ants again
Was doing a little research too, had previously read about indoor composting, might do that for the food scraps and such, rather than just toss them. Not sure what I would do with the compost. Have read a bit about emergency preparedness, could do some more of that too
Hoping work will be quiet, with people off and thus fewer new cases coming in. Need to outreach the counselor, have been delaying on that
Will be in the 20s the new few days, with snow expected Thurs and Fri. Then it will get much colder, possibly below 0.
