Tweety that's a shame they don't allow refunds, especially since it was beyond  your control

NJ22 it's going  to be cool and overcast here too

Stars that must be aggravating that he's so irritable.  Hopefully the new meds help and the PCP can address rehab again

Hi Ado

Dianah that sounds like an interesting performance

Yesterday was somewhat busy, started the crock pot recipe before church.  Got to church early and stayed a bit late as I was doing coffee hour

Ran some errands, watched The Crown, went for a walk, and then went to the church Christmas party

Was a nice time, had a good crowd there.  Was at a table with a new member, was interesting to talk with him.  Also wanted to make sure he felt welcome. Was a catered event, there was music and carols and and a long time, member, as she has been doing for years, came as Mrs. Claus

Was interesting, the fact that J and I had partially broken up came up and people were asking if I would start dating again right away.  I would think that the assumption would be that I would take my time before deciding on that

Did not sleep well due to GERD, should not have eaten so much so late and had sparkling wine on top of it.  Had to take both famotidine and Tums, did get back to sleep

Feel a tad off this morning, throat a bit sore.  No fever yet, and I had negative Covid tests Fri and Sat.  Hopefully not coming down with something

Will be another cloudy day around 40

Hey, Joe~ Absolutely do NOT come down with something, and stay Covid-negative!

Well. it's Monday morning, and I am UP (bleargh) and about to get dressed and be about my business! Or, rather, hubby's business, ie, meds.

Thanks for that info, j22, about the vitamins! Good "ammo", doncha know! But like Tweety said, in essence, 'good luck with that.' I know I am grabbing onto straws, wanting to believe he will quit drinking. I am also going to call the doc's office and make his appt. Once a nurse, always a nurse. Oh well!

Welp, I'll be back by here later, I'm sure!

Good morning!

Joe, hope you're not coming down with someone.  Covid in this area is extremely low but the flu is high.  Always something.

Stars, hope your husband can understand his medication regime and cooperate.  I do you wish you well.

I had a painter come buy to see my bedroom and bathroom.  Painting of the bathroom is the final step in the renovation and I'm also going to include the bedroom.  They can start after Christmas.   I don't have the estimate yet, and I don't want to know because I know it will be expensive with high inflation, but I'm just not a painter.  Apparently there's a shortage of painters  to do the labor in this area.  She said she actually lent out one of her painters to another company but there's only two of them.  It will get done when it gets done.  I'd like to have it done before my insurance company comes to inspect so that some stains on the ceiling will be covered up.

Two more weeks of bowling.  Hard to believe Christmas is upon us.

So, I came back with all the meds...and of course hubby started to c/o "having to take all this s**t", and, "for years I haven't had to take so many pills." So, I said, "But things are different now. You are an alcoholic." I explained about the B vitamins, and then 'made him' take his Cipro and Omeprazole. Well, I GAVE him the pills and told him to take them, so I hope he has. Meanwhile I am looking through all the papers the pharmacy gives you with each med, so I can fill the medisets the correct way, (as in 'do not take this pill at the same time as that pill', etc)

He sees our PCP Friday at 3:40 PM. At first there was no available appt w/ the PCP, so I made a tentative appt w/ one of the other docs. Shortly after that, the woman called me back and told me the appt w/ PCP had already been made by the hospital, so YAY! because the first available appt was for January 6th, and I'd said "Oooh, that will never do!" And hubby does not seem to trust any other doctor.

Just now he said, "Do you want to see how I can drive?" (I guess it was an invitation?) I said, "Where are you driving to? Because you really can't take some of these pills when you are drinking." He told me he wasn't drinking and no, he wasn't going to go to the liquor store. Hmph.

He wanted to know (say this in a voice with a whine to it:) "WHY" he has to take all this medicine. I told him they'd switched him from Lisinopril to Cardizem, which is his BP med. I said I didn't know "WHY" because I am not a doctor, but I suspect these meds were considered to be more efficacious, which they can tell by your blood-work, etc.

I said if he really has such a big problem taking what the hospital docs prescribed for him, he should call the PCP's office and ask to have our doctor to PLEASE call him at some point today, because some of these meds you can't skip for the next four days!

I b'leeve we's in DeNial, badly!

Good day. It’s clear and cold here, expecting it to get even colder , down to 10 at the end of the week. Coworker’s furnace went out last Thursday and today was the soonest the furnace person could come. She took the am off to meet him. She will likely need a new unit. Ouch. They using space heaters and the kitchen oven to stay warm. Not much going on at work. 2 appointments were no-shows. This evening I’m stopping by my old high school. It is going to be demolished so tonight is an open house for the community.
Fresh paint makes everything seem cleaner and bigger. We should paint, but first someone will need to get rid of their clutter.
Joe, your get together sounded successful. I’m guessing people want you to have a caring companion.
I hope Dianah and Annie are recovered from their travels.

"Whine, whine, fuss, fuss!"

I am not going to argue with you about your medicine.

Now, because I told him it wasn't wise for him to be driving when he's on his new med schedule, he is looking at me and saying, "I'm not allowed to drive." He also asked earlier if I was going to "keep him in jail" the way they did at the hospital. Pppfftt.

I said "I'm not your jailer", and you are an adult, so if it is your decision to drive when the medicine info says it isn't good to drive, ....here!"  I tossed him the car keys. Now he's gone out to KFC. Good Luck.

I just took a 0.5 mg Xanax because I am so pi$$ED at him, my hands are shaking. Gotta get me into an AlAnon mtg, IF they are having them....because Covid has spiked here, along with the flu, and public gatherings are not advised.

I am not going to post anymore today, unless he wrecks the car.

Not much rain today here, most of it came down yesterday, though it is still pretty cloudy and cold out.  I went out to mail a couple things off, then stopped by oldest ds's to exchange gifts.  He is doing well, had a busy night at the bar 'n grill last night, so today is recovery day.  After I picked up lunch and arrived home, the phone rang -- it was him, calling to talk with dh!  So good to hear them chatting about similar interests/hobbies.  We will get together on Christmas Day for a bit.

((((((((((((((((((((( Stars ))))))))))))))))))  Again, stay the course.  So very frustrating to hear Mr. Stars make his excuses.  Most likely is trying to maintain control, and not let others tell him what to do.  But he needs it, yes?  He is not making good decisions on his own.

Have a good day, stay warm nursej22!

J22, brr! 10 is cold!

It's 54 and cloudy here. Quite the change from 75 and sunny on the beach! (the breeze was cool, but who cares? I was at the beach Saturday!)

((((Stars)))) it is making me sad to follow your dh's denial. It has to be frustrating for you.

Joe, I wonder if your people are wanting to try to fix you up? Be careful how you answer those questions!

The conference part of the trip went better than expected. The vacation part with Hubs was good. He needed the break and I guess he needed me to let him take charge. In other words, he chose the beach and the food and the hotel ... and we ended up spending more on the hotel for "our" 2 nights and the rental car than I had anticipated. I could put the rental car on the expense report and they'd probably pay for it. But Hubs agreed to their additional insurance and it ended up being over $400 which is ridiculous.

I enjoyed as always seeing the birds -- pelicans, ospreys, gulls, ring-billed gulls, royal terns, and a couple of sandpipers. I've always seen sandpipers in groups but we saw only a few. One of them was missing a leg. (Guess I'm always thinking about injured wildlife).

Stepson called me as we were about to get on the plane yesterday. He is still having a bad time and doesn't think he is ready to be back at work. Said he had a mini panic attack at work on Saturday. He wants help applying for disability benefits and his sister (who is his guardian) has too much on her plate. He is tearful and anxious. I will do what I can to help with the application for disability. The attorney who helped with guardianship gave me a name/number for an attorney who does disability appeals. Meanwhile, he needs more financial support but we've already used what we could easily get to. Now it would mean either taking on more debt or taking money from my retirement account and paying the penalty on that. And it's looking like we won't get the student loan relief (between the twins and me, we were looking at $30-40,000 of debt relief). Stepson has texted a few times today -- still telling me how he didn't feel loved and encouraged by us. I don't get it. Well, I do. He's ill.

GDMFSOBAH! At 9 PM:

He fell BACKWARDS down nine stairs and extremely loudly cussed and  yelled at me when I called 911, saying he was not going to the hospital. He wouldn't even let them come and check him! I had to take all his cipro out of the medisets because you aren't supposed to take Ibuprofen with cipro...s/e of CNS effects, and seizures. What a moron.

I would check with doc about holding the Cipro. Does anyone even know why he is on it? Mr. Stars is edging toward "a danger to himself or others" and close to qualifying for involuntary confinement.
